This whole saga is disheartening. Not only is there blatant exploitation of #opensouce code but also the fragmentation of discourse that the Internet was supposed to remove. People will segregate in their own ideologically aligned media ecosystems and live in forever echo chambers.

I suppose this was predictable, humans don't like other humans and this sort of fragmentation has happened before, often.

Although as a country do we not owe places like Newfoundland the help they are requesting?

I am not familiar enough to know how exactly they accrued the debt, but it can also be said that Canada hasn't really tried to give them the tools to develop economically.

2/2 My faith, or lack thereof, doesn;t lead me to seek association with other atheists. I do believe that if I had just been encouraged to believe in what I wanted as a kid, my beliefs would probably align a lot closer to Catholicism than it does now. Or at least to the message of love and acceptance that the bible preaches and not the message of hate peddled by the Catholic church.

1/2 While I do not believe in a higher power, I think it can be beneficial for people to do so. My problem has always been with the organization of such things. No one should completely agree with one's neighbour about faith because it is very personal.

I'm realizing that my toot might have used words that need softening.

I am very okay with whatever people believe in, so long as they leave me out of it. It's the institution that of religion that I take offense to.

I was raised as a Catholic and went to a Catholic school. The amount of emotional and mental abuse I was subjected to for being doubtful about religion is something no child should be subject to. Luckily my parents were a lot more lenient than the nuns.

Thank you for making me aware of this! It is always a sweet pleasure seeing a church turn on itself. It comes at a most opportune time, while the church is being actively criticised in Canada. Maybe we'll see them loose even more followers. This is 2021 it's about time fairy-tales get put to bed.

Back in the day, my car had a 6 cd charger. The 6th cd always was 100% that song, like however many copies would fit. That way if I saw a storm all I had to do was hit 6, roll the windows down and downshift.

The whole concept of Bill 101 has been at rest for a very long time and people have been pretty satisfied with it. Just like Bill 21 this is the CAQ pandering to their unhinged voter base. Appealing to emotions instead of reason.

As a strong believer in French I don't see what purpose this would serve or how it would benefit Québec's culture, especially on a national and international level.

At this point is a whole lot of circle jerking.

Not going into the nation part of the thing. The CAQ making moves in the constitutional spheres can only be a bad sign.

My belief is that they're are doing this, not to strengthen the position of French in Québec and Canada, but as a power play to gain legitimacy for the very unconstitutional Bill 21.

As a Québécois, living outside of Québec, married to an anglo-quebecker, I am sensitive to something like this.
