On Wednesday I was able to ride a tram from the 1930 while eating Treberwurst, a local specialty. The vehicle was used in Bern from 1935 until 1973, and was eventually turned into a mobile restaurant. Definitely a great experience!

TIL lobsters are biologically immortal - they don't age and can theoretically live forever, but die from exhaustion during molting as they grow larger, not from old age

Started the weekend with The Last Jedi. 11/12 films watched. I enjoyed it more than The Force Awakens, I must say. Sometimes a bit childish humour, but I guess that is something to address the younger audience.
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher both look great—they definitely aged very well.
"Russian warship, go fuck yourself"
— Roman Hrybov, 24 February 2022
Btw.: It was the missile cruiser Moskva, border guard Hrybov was talking to on the first day of Russia's full-scale incasion. The ship was f*cked eventually, when Ukranian forces attacked and sunk the ship on April 14th, 2022.
The 2004 Sri Lanka tsunami train wreck is the largest single rail disaster in world history by death toll, with 1,000 fatalities or more. It occurred when a crowded passenger train (No 50, Matara Express) was destroyed on a coastal railway in Sri Lanka by a tsunami that followed the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.

Watched The Force Awakens today. 10/12 of my Star Wars run. It's not great, it's not terrible 😉
However, I did like one tiny detail a lot: the Millenium Falcon has a different antenna - because Lando Calrissian "lost" it during the attack on the second Death Star.
TIL that Voyager 1, launched in 1977 — became the first human-made object to enter interstellar space in 2012 and is currently the most distant man-made object from Earth, still transmitting data back across billions of kilometers.

More than 1,000 Kenyans have been recruited to fight on Russia's side in the war in Ukraine, according to a Kenyan intelligence report presented to lawmakers this week, five times more than authorities had previously estimated.
Done with The Return of the Jedi, making it 9/12 in my Star Wars run. It used to be my favourite film of all of them, but I think the Empire Strikes Back takes that place now.
I didn't like the part with Luke in the Death Star that much anymore - trying to turn someone to the dark side is a matter of a few hours, I guess. However, the ships are really nice: B Wings, shuttles, calamari cruisers, and so on are just beautifully designed.
Croatia refused a request to transport Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, Economy Minister Ante Susnjar said Feb. 16. He vowed to comply with EU and OFAC rules, adding no EU state has “technical excuses” to stay dependent on Russian oil.

Russia is not serious about peace. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said Moscow is "ready to discuss with the US and other countries the idea of external governance of Ukraine under UN auspices", proposing a temporary administration role.
That will be a very short conversation. #Ukraine
