I think we can't have enough blog posts and talks about that, ppl still think it's not possible to use a close to mainline #Linux phone in 2026 although we're doing it for many years now (see also e.g. @devrtz 's talk from 2025 https://www.linuxday.at/5-jahre-meines-lebens-mit-mobile-linux-smartphones (in German)).

I realize that yesterday it was exactly four years ago that I started the experiment to use the #Librem5 #Linux #phone as my daily phone.

I have been using it since then, and the software is being improved regularly and in a very transparent way.

Today we launched https://code.overheid.nl: the NL government-wide code platform 🥳🥳

Code.overheid.nl is a pilot in which we are going to test @forgejo; an open source and sovereign alternative to GitHub/GitLab.

This is an initiative of @BZKopensource, in collaboration with our friends from team DAWO (SSC-ICT), developer.overheid.nl, and a number of participating government organizations. 🤝

Two papers came out last week that suggest classical asymmetric cryptography might indeed be broken by quantum computers in just a few years.

That means we need to ship post-quantum crypto now, with the tools we have: ML-KEM and ML-DSA. I didn't think PQ auth was so urgent until recently.

Despite all the problems associated with using AI, I still see some people saying "yeah but if you're careful and vet it's output it can still help you".

I'm reminded of the kid digging in a giant pile of manure "with all this horse shit there must be a pony around here somewhere!"

All my #WebKit merge requests have been merged. Now #WebKitGTK supports touch PointerEvent API, touch point coordinates are fractional, synthesized mouse events are unbroken and both WebKitGTK and WPE WebKit handle pointer capture and release according to the spec. This should considerably improve compatibility of #Epiphany (#GNOME Web) with touch interfaces.

There are still some more things to fix in there, maybe someone in #mobilelinux #linuxmobile community would like to give it a try?
