I think the most important aspect they bring up is how increased use of so-called "AI" systems (it's wrong to call such systems "intelligent") leads to really dangerous concentration of power to a small number of huge companies. That development is very dangerous and bad for democracy, it's really the opposite of what we need.

Hej @karlemilnikka ! Jag har precis lyssnat på senaste avsnittet https://nikkasystems.com/2024/02/23/podd-238-sakra-meddelanden-blir-sakrare/ som var intressant men jag tycker att ni missade att nämna den viktigaste nackdelen med Apples meddelandetjänst jämfört med Signal:

Signal är överlägset bättre därför att Signal-appen har öppen källkod.

Apples lösning är stängd, som Apple-användare är man helt ägd av Apple. Man kan inte kontrollera om Apple faktiskt håller vad de lovar. Därför är Signal mycket bättre.

I'm disgusted by this, and also amazed: how can the current government fail to see that the whole thing looks really, really bad?

I mean, just the optics of it. Even if you want to throw away human rights and establish an authoritarian state, surely you must see that it looks bad to do it together with nazis? It's so wrong and so ugly.

How do these people think?

Now, in Sweden, we have similar proposals from the current government, backed by the "Sweden democrats", a party founded by nazis and other fascist-leaning people.

The government is proposing increased surveillance, violating citizens' right to privacy, and letting the police stop and search people for "looking suspicious" or wearing the wrong kind of clothes.

All cheered on by the founded-by-nazis "Sweden democrats" party.
