Debian Installer Release RC 2, thanks to the Debian Installer Team! https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2025/07/msg00000.html #debian #trixie
@Denvitadrogen vilken minister handlar det om?
> signal desktop for arm64
Yes, that's what I use currently on my #Librem5 phone, however it's a bit awkward, not very well adapted to the small screen. Also, because Signal Desktop does not work as a "main device" for Signal, I have to have some other device also. The way I solved that for the moment (being an anti-android fundamentalist) is to run signal-cli on a #postmarketOS device, that works as my "main device" for Signal.
@wallamba it's been decades since I read that trilogy but I'm still annoyed at Tom Bombadil

> openly licensed
That's not specific enough. If it's "public domain", "do whatever you want with this and no attribution required", then sure, use it for whatever.
But if it's a license that requires attribution, like the CC licenses, then it's wrong to "train" so-called "AI" systems on that, because what they will do is to throw away the info about who the author was, and then generate "new" things as if they were "authored" by the "AI" system.
@idzie aaaawwwwww cute 🙂

It would be great if Signal could become more friendly to those and not assume that everyone must use Andriod or iOS. Andriod or iOS are things of the past, we need to move away from those towards alternatives that put the user's freedom and privacy front and center.
Attended a great talk yesterday at @dedependance hosted by Nuria Ribas Costa with @Mer__edith and Evelyn Austin (@bitsoffreedom) about #Signal, AI and Europe's "Big Tech Initiatives" (amongst other things).
They had an interesting perspective on how Europe can catch up on the US with regards to Big Tech, "the cloud"¹, hyperscalers, etc.
Their perspective was: should we even want this? Should we want to copy the US's Big Tech template and perhaps end up like them?
¹ such a dumb term

@year_progress don't you know progress bars are out of style? Nowadays nobody cares about actual progress, you can just display a spinner instead.

GPS collars used to control farm animals may soon become allowed in Sweden.

Meanwhile, GPS thingys used to control humans have been in use for quite some time. 😉
So we can look forward to that soon, both farm animals and humans will be controlled in the same way.

@meraord jag dricker knappast själv så jag borde inte uttala mig, men det ska ju vara single malt och det finns en som heter Macallan till exempel, och en annan som heter Laphroaig.
> Interesting project!
It is! 😃 Feel free to use it, you can submit things to one of the logs mentioned here https://www.sigsum.org/services/ or you can run your own log and/or your own witness and help build the ecosystem that way. See also https://www.sigsum.org/getting-started/
@nopatience four weeks work (on https://sigsum.org/ among other things) upcoming, then three weeks vacation.
@gcvsa @neil as I see it, GrapheneOS has a fatal flaw in that it only runs on Google Pixel phones. It only exists as long as Google allows it.
The same problem, although less severe, exists for all other Android variants also. Google makes Android, Google makes the decisions about what goes in future versions and so on.
A better option in my opinion is GNU-like #MobileLinux where the focus is to benefit the user, not Google et al. -- see @linmob and things like #pureos #mobian #postmarketos
