Van Huffelen (@alexandravanhuffelen) was a great state secretary for digitalisation. We have/had a new government (that recently collapsed).
The policy in the Netherlands is indeed rather ok, but the policy is not followed. Especially not in the use of standard software for office use. It is all Microsoft. For me that is very weird, because exactly in this area are excellent #Free and #OpenSource options. But #government forces me to #proprietary.
@douginamug I think every website should have a "links" page, like in the old days!
@janvlug what? I thought the Dutch government was better than others, don't you have that minister Alexandra van Huffelen who talked so much about open source and digital sovereignty and so on recently? Did she forget about that stuff already?
@cosmin the FSF shop usually has that kind of stuff but unfortunately it's temporarily closed, supposed to open again after July 18th: https://shop.fsf.org/

@sofistikeradrevolt kanske ett tecken på att det är hon som är vår verkliga ledare när det kommer till kritan?
Dear Fedi friends,
By now you might have seen the post announcing the release of my promotional video for the Fediverse. But in case you have boosts turned off, here we go: https://news.elenarossini.com/fediverse-video/
I posted about it this morning from my #GoToSocial account because I have a 5000 character limit there. And I had so many people to thank for their help. It really takes a village.
Thank you for all the wonderful feedback so far ❤️
One thing that bothered me since some time is that for switching between different 🎶 players required to🔓 the 📱 .
So e.g. pausing #gnome podcasts to listen to music via #gapless needed ever so many steps. I've thus added a lockscreen plugin to #phosh that tracks all currently running media players that use #mpris and allows to interact with them.
This is all pretty rough still but I can hopefully brush it up for 0.48 (https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/merge_requests/1729).
We just moved to this new instance (and @linuxphoneapps will follow with moving to @linuxphoneapps later today). Let's hope it will serve us as a solid new home for a long, long time! :-)
> With things like that happening, are you at the same time still having trouble getting funding?
Yup, unfortunately - worse than ever. Folks are happy to pay for new features, but not for maintaining them, or maintaining/improving what’s already there. And much like getting a puppy, the vast majority of the cost is the upkeep.
> I imagine the EU has a decent budget for cybersecurity stuff
We’re continuing to try to locate it.
Project Aurora, the EU adopting Matrix for cybersecurity crisis management, and significant improvements in the rust SDK thanks to DINUM's HackDays.
That and more happened This Week in Matrix!

> the EU adopting Matrix for cybersecurity crisis management
With things like that happening, are you at the same time still having trouble getting funding?
I imagine the EU has a decent budget for cybersecurity stuff, so if they rely on matrix for important things it seems reasonable for them to help out with some funding. Are they helping out, or are they like so many others just expecting to use something free while expecting others to carry the cost?
Interesting article about @purism in #Fortune:
"Its Liberty Phone,... comes with U.S.-made electronics installed on a metal chassis from China. It retails for $1,999. Another phone, the Librem 5, is mostly the same design, except it’s made in China with Chinese parts, and costs $799."
"The Liberty Phone is its biggest seller."
I have been using a #Librem5 as my daily phone for three years now. I like it because the #freedom for the user: #FOSS.
