@neil I have a take on LLMs and ethics: if the input ("training) data is hidden because it contains stuff where authors may have wanted attribution, then it's unethical to use that LLM. This includes all the big ones like "claude" or "gemini" or "chatgpt" or whatever their names are. It's wrong to use such a system. People shouldn't use it. People who use it are doing wrong and should stop immediately, and they should apologise for having used it and do further penance yet to be determined.

Good post that gets into the futility I feel when I try to do something creative online anymore. I'm less and less motivated to do things like write a blog or build software tools. I've found myself without much of a creative community since 2020 for a variety of societal and personal reasons. My attempts at private intellectual life have crashed and burned. I really do need creative community but I don't want to feed the plagiarism machine. Not really sure what to do.

@hehemrin det är väl för att MP inte ställer till med problem, MP behöver inte bryta mot något de sagt tidigare för att det ska kunna bli en regering.
S borde väl inte heller vara med, det borda bara vara V och C för det är de två som lovat dumma saker före valet.
Det bästa nu skulle vata om V och C båda två bryter sina knasiga löften lite lagom mycket, så kan de båda peka på att den andra har gett med sig och så kan de båda vara lite halvnöjda. Och så slipper vi få en fascistregering igen.

Out for a shopping run in town, all of the paid parking now says "pay online or with the app".
It makes sense from a maintenance perspective, they don't have to send someone out to collect coins from parking meters or pay stations any more. But it also kills anonymity, all those payment methods give your identity away everywhere.
We really need actual digital cash, like Monero, and it needs to be accepted everywhere. Anything else is a security nightmare.
