Digital sovereignty can only be achieved with Free Software! That’s why, in our feedback to the Germany Stack consultation, we call for the Stack to be implemented entirely as Free Software.

Nobody here claimed that it implies anything. My point is that having control of your own device is a necessary first step towards privacy or security.

If someone else can login to your device and do whatever they want, then you are not secure, and you are not private. It's also misleading to call it "your" device, it's really their device because they control it.

@2babcc@mastodon.social thanks for explaining why you trust Apple.

I'd be curious to hear how you view the size of Apple as a company. It's one of the very largest companies in the world by market cap. Are you not worried that Apple is too big for any meaningful competition to happen? If Google were to merge with Apple into a single huge company, would that in your view be even better than the situation we have today? (in my view that's a nightmare scenario)

@GrapheneOS @janvlug @patrick @harld

@GrapheneOS you wrote:

> The purpose of our project is not advancing ideological beliefs

But the position you are taking here is deeply ideological and political.

You defend a world order where a single central authority (Apple) has complete power over people. Apparently you want people to think that they have "privacy" and "security" when they are under central control in that way.

You are entitled to your opinion, but do not pretend it's not ideological.

Thanks for the replies, but you are still not answering my question.

An iPhone user is completely owned by Apple. How can that be acceptable to you?

You say you want to provide accurate info, but to me it seems you are actually deceiving people by pretending that it does not matter that someone else has root access on their devices.

Apple has enormous control over their users, it's really bad. I still don't understand why you are defending Apple.

Migrating #Dillo from GitHub to our self-hosted server. :blobcatcookienom:

I wrote a post about the current situation with #GitHub and how we ended up self-hosting our own infrastructure to be robust against data loss. We now store all important data (including issues) in git repositories which are replicated accross #Codeberg and #Sourcehut.

@sebastian that mikelovesrobots also says this, which I think sums up the situation nicely:

@eliasr To play the games, you need to install Luanti version 5.14.0. You can get Luanti at: luanti.org/en/downloads/

Then, in Luanti, click on "Content" then on "Browse Online Content". Now you can browse and install all available games here.

A list of all games made for the 2025 Luanti Game Jam can be found here: content.luanti.org/packages/?t

@potatisapan @ulug jag tycker det är alldeles lysande att biblioteket gör den typen av saker. Det borde alla bibliotek göra! Hoppas det kommer mer sånt och på andra ställen också.

Why I 🧡 the web.

After the recent #Cloudflare outage someone built a DownDetector for DownDetector after DownDetector went down.

> "GPT-5 reproduced Alon’s proof and passed it along to us without realizing its source"

This kind of highlights the core functionality of such systems: it's a plagiarism machine. It's truly "useful" if your goal is to throw away authorship information and present something as new, produced by you or your "intelligent" system. The obvious main usecase is fraud.

For anyone interested in honesty and facts, much better to use a search engine that could point to the source.
