Dear companies,
please don't make having access to Google's or Apple's app stores to use your products a requirement.
This locks so many of us out because we either don't have a compatible device or the device doesn't have the software to access these services (like google play services).

@MissBehave @infosec_jcp @purism "403 Forbidden". Huh. Is this only for Americans?
Check out this alternative on screen keyboard for Phosh:

@purism Great work! I so much appreciate this!
People think that "It's OK for people to just want technology to work" (which it is) is like saying "It's OK for people to not know things" (which it is). But to the extent that they're saying it to argue against technologists advocating for open technology, it's humanity-defeating and just a fucking strawman.
The technologists are complaining about abusive designs that manipulate people by making the path of least resistance the one that, for example, destroys the concept of privacy.
When you respond to that with "well not everybody needs to understand everything," What you're actually saying is "It's OK for people to be MANIPULATED into maintaining their ignorance."
These companies have worked very hard to create a culture where computers are magic boxes to most people, so the vast majority of users remain vulnerable. You're not countercultural for thinking that's a good thing. You're a fucking mark.
@purism If I did not trust my government to spy on me - and that is always the threat; governments don't care about tracking citizens of other countries - why would I buy a phone made in my own country? A government has more influence to wield over domestic producers than it does one in another country.
If I needed a secure phone I would certainly buy the Chinese made Librem 5 phones. I really don't care if the CCP knows the intimate details of my life. I DO care that my own government would.
@theDarky How long can it go before it requires charging?
@lori Looks like a #82 Stanley cabinet scraper. See photos on this page: https://letoolman.com/antique---vintage-tools.html
The workbench. (photo from 3 years ago). I've added hinged feet and increase the height, more dog holes, but otherwise it works great. Maple top and chop, red oak legs, pine stretchers. #woodworking #workbenches
@daniel_bohrer Absolutely. And then bled on the workpiece. 😞
@someunexpectedsparks I'd expect this to be a hardware issue. I'm sure you tried a different charger and cable so this is trally strange.
