Universal Audio said they'd invest in Linux support for their devices if tens of thousands of people signed a petition. So, here's that petition:

@madargon Caption: Internet at the beginning. Person riding a bird over green pastures with people camping and having fun everyehere. Internet now. Same person carrying shoulder bag on a stick walking through a PoW style camp with a welcome sign, trip wires, holes, and security cameras.

@aral I signed but I am working on a Web 3.0 app. I see data being distributed as part of the semantic web. People can hook into the network and share using a device and not a server.

@3rik can still contribute and build upon it. They just cannot be part of a corporation. Its similar to MIT and GPL. What is more free, writing code so some billionaire can make more money and you get health insurance, or working together to make your collective peers' live more fruitful? Both make open source code.

71% of Australians polled by the Sydney Morning Herald on 18th December support calls for @wikileaks founder and publisher Julian Assange to be 'brought back to Australia' @smh #FreeAssangeNOW t.co/f5Ohenu0dC

@sam Librem.one has an interesting approach where the same account can be used for mastodon, email, matrix. You'll need all services hosted in the same place. I don't know what they do in the backend, but is this something you were thinking of?

@rysiek@mastodon.technology the lady and finally to the guy got brought down because of their tone. If people think the entire show is not good because of its tone, then they missed most of the messages/issues.

@obra I would like to get more into developing open source but if a security researcher comes with a bug. I would like to know the best processes that we can use to fix the issue and push it out so the log4j incident doesn't repeat.

@devinprater you can tell the type of people if a meow breaks the silence or extends it. Cats make a community but you cannot herd them.

@kyle I was always a fan of Tesla as they were the first mover and made cool cars. But they have gone down the path of Apple and now I want to get another electronic car maker that'll care for their customers.

US folks, please call your representatives and ask them to support H.R.4728, the Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act. In fact, ask them to cosponsor it.

@StampedingLonghorn @devinprater what! I thought you meant there was a little reset type button you needed a pin to press for 3 seconds to unlock your computer 🤪

Of course Elsevier's "enhanced pdf viewer" tracks where you click, view, if you hide the page, etc. and then transmits a big base64 blob of events along with ID from University proxy when you leave. I'm sure straight to SciVal for sale.
Is this the way we want science to work?

A good video looking at the carbon impacts of meat. I rarely eat meat because of the sustainability issues. 26% of carbon emissions is from farming and I feel this is the only industry we cannot just switch to a carbon neutral version. It requires personal change 😔

@be I think it was to allow you to use it with GPL code.

@hn250 interesting, I never did calculus in highschool and went on to do physics at University. Long after uni I enjoy watching maths videos and doing some of the basic maths to see how different aspects of maths is connected and apply to life. I feel like this is a good approach so people see maths all around them and how it's connected. Outside of uni you don't do pure maths, but knowing is important.
