Found a super-handy command today. fselect is a program that imitates SQL SELECT syntax for filesystem searches. Examples:
fselect path FROM / WHERE is_shebang = TRUE # Writes a list of all interpreter scripts to stdout. Also a lot of permission denied errors to stderr.
fselect path, size FROM ~ WHERE name LIKE '.%' AND is_file = TRUE ORDER BY size DESC # Writes a list of hidden files in your home directory somewhere from biggest to smallest.

@liw “The Ferengi are hailing us.”
“Onscreen.”
“Uh… we can't, they're using a proprietary codec and the licence isn't compatible with Federation law.”
“Can we install it anyway? Under one of the diplomacy directives.”
“Nnnooo, looks like we'd need to upgrade the ship's processing core. Or maybe downgrade. Possibly both.”
“Ah screw it, just open fire.”

For example, because it is FSF endorsed (Debian is not): https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html
And of course they can make privacy, security and convenience enhancments easier and ship improvements quicker than waiting for upstream.
Finally, the upcoming PureOS Store and the convergence goal for Librem 5 are very good reasons to have an own distro.

Mit einem derart sensiblen Gewissen wird man vielleicht noch Bürgermeister, aber bis an die EU Spitze schafft man es sicher nicht. Und da ist das Problem...

it was also said that Matrix could be split in two apps: in chatty for 1:1 and a separate one for group chats.
I don't know if that's still the intention. If you want to get a good overview, have a look at the full development timeline, specifically all topics that are marked with a speech bubble (chat)

Die UBports Entwickler sollen ihre devkits inzwischen erhalten haben. Plasma mobile ist meines Wissens in den Purism Images enthalten. (Siehe source.puri.sm)

I have a release to publish, I will do it soon but I will have a break after. For the first time with the project, I lost my motivation. My goal, whatever some people can think, was to build a tool for everyone with a high level of privacy.
I spent a lot of time to build it since more than two years. During these two years, you sent me your ideas and that's how the application grew. I have always replied to everyone, and I was personally proud to bring your suggestions inside the application 1/3

There's also the lesser known DAXolotl, a German stock broker.
It is sometimes cyber attacked by the hax0lotl.
The saxolotl was recently discovered in a jazz bar.
The antivaxolotl became extinct.

ich mach meine bootsticks immer mit dd. Sollte eigentlich mit jedem OS funktionieren, oder?
dd if=win.iso of=/dev/$usbstick bs=10M; sync

As these are adapted desktop applications, it's probably the other way round: If you want an app to stop in the background, one has to take care of that.
On the other hand, most Linux apps are much more well-behaving with resources than a typical Android app bloated with trackers and ads, so there is probably (often) not much benefit in pausing background apps.
