@nextcloud My favorite feature is how lightweight the sync client is. I use a very CPU-intensive backup app - now I run it on my NextCloud server instead of my laptop.

Least favorite feature is that the web-based upgrade doesn't check for incompatible plugins. Spent an afternoon diagnosing errors after upgrading - because 1 app wasn't compatible.

Most important missing feature: federated talk. I want to chat with my other nextcloud-enabled friends without using guest links.

@nextcloud Clock shows me 1d 3h to go, but if the announcement is at 2pm in Berlin... that's in 19hrs.

@nextcloud Is the countdown localized? What TZ is the announcement. I _assume_ it's not at 1400 PST (2100 CEST).

Many Android phone vendors subsidize their cost w/ malware/spyware/adware just like many laptop vendors, but Android lets vendors make it impossible to remove.

In this case, free Android phones the US govt. handed out to the poor contained Chinese malware.

@purism I just tried to upgrade to annual librem.one service, but the price is the same. Is there a coupon code?

@kyle I saw your edit on puri.sm/posts/librem-5-longevi about 5G modems... I hope Purism hasn't completely ruled out a 5G upgrade (including modem _and_ antennae).

@lunduke I recently wiped my laptop and reinstalled my distro of choice. I explicitly removed all desktop apps and added my distro's flatpak backends instead... then installed my apps from flathub (via the GNOME software center). I've found a great balance - apps from the devs in a distro-agnostic way, and a smaller OS.

Should this be a thing? How long until a major distro provider stops shipping apps, and just relies on a layer like flatpak to differentiate where the OS ends?

@tjipkevdh I hope to have mine for solstice. My android limps on, but I'll go without before I buy another spybrick.

Did you know that contributes to several free software projects such as GNOME, wlroots and Debian? We've also made dozens of patches to the kernel (5.2, 5.1, 5.0, 4.20) for the Librem 5 and our other hardware puri.sm/posts/purism-and-the-l

I hope @purism ships my phone soon. I dropped my Sony in the toilet.
