one thing I like about Linux: do Ctrl+Alt+Fx (where x = 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) and your entire screen is now a bash terminal. have fun. when you want to go back, do Ctrl+Alt+F7. Do note that this varies depending on your distro though.

So three people, who A) are from the same mastodon instance and B) have the same profile picture, just followed me. 🤔

Anyone else scared of Neuralink? Cause I am. I don’t trust any company run by Elon Musk to respect my privacy, and such a BMI (brain-machine interface) has the potential to interfere with our ability to think freely, because there is no way to guarantee that data transfer is one-way (from brain to machine) and not bi-directional.

public class HelloWorld
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
System.out.println("Hello World!");
}
}

Currently deciding whether I should prop up a new droplet on my DigitalOcean account to host a personal GitLab. Main thing I'm considering is whether the extra ~$5/month would be worth it for a VCS/CI/CD setup I fully control.

A concept for a decentralized app marketplace. Probably not the best, but its the first thing I could think of that did not require a blockchain.

@monc Sort of? But not restricted to free and open-source applications (could be paid and/or proprietary), and possibly cross-platform (not restricted to a particular operating system or processor architecture).

@lunduke hey, how do you think a decentralized app store would work?

Also, here's a banana: 🍌

@monc Yeah, the offline account button was not there. It was replaced by a Terms & Conditions button -_-

@monc I looked there. It wasn’t there at all. Only the terms of service.

So I had an idea, but I wanted to check if it already existed. So I looked up “decentralized app store” and got websites where you can find decentralized apps. Cool, but not what I was thinking.

@monc I have not, sadly. The few games I have that are Windows-exclusive run like sludge under Proton. Might need to go find a text guide on optimizing Proton for those games, but I currently do not feel like messing with config files. Good thing Lutris exists at least.

I wish other people in my family used Linux :/ just went through the pain of setting up Windows 10 on my little sister's new laptop. For some god forsaken reason, they removed the option to create a local account from the first time setup! Why???????

I'm currently hoping for a Linux version of Cyberpunk. Right now it looks like a Windows exclusive, but I would love to have a native release on Linux (or an optimized wine-bottle if they can't get native to work).

@gbryant awesome. watching e3 stuff. there is a bag of mini kitkats on my desk.
