Holy smokes.

LibreOffice runs on the Librem 5!

AND IT WORKS.

Saving files, opening files, typing... the UI is a bit cramped (it's a desktop app on a phone)... but hot-diggity! It works!

Behind the deaf government and the cruel repressive police #HKprotests are facing, this may be one of their most heartbreaking realizations that "freedom" is and has always been a hollow propaganda word the USA have been using at least since WWII and that money sadly prevails.

♲ @hkmaplive@twitter.com: @Apple 8. We once believed the App rejection is simply a bureaucratic f up, but now it is clearly a political decision to suppress freedom and human right in #HongKong. It is disappointing to see US corps such as @Apple, @NBA, @Blizzard_Ent, @TiffanyAndCo act against #freedom

♲ @gergelyszekely@poddery.com:

Wanna break free from #Google?

Here are some recommendations:

Instead of #gmail, I use #disroot (disroot.org). with #k9 (k9mail.github.io) and #thunderbird (thunderbird.net) as clients.
Instead of #google search, I use #searx (Searx instances), #duckduckgo (duckdukgo.com), and #startpage (startpage.com).
Searx instance FuckOffGoogle.de has the most suggessive name. 😀
I recommend setting it as a default search engine on publicly used computers (at your school, work place, internet caffees, etc.) 😉
Instead of #youtube, I use #peertube (joinpeertube.org) and #invidious (Invidious Instances).
I also use #firefox #addon PeerTubeify to get redirected to peertube if a #video is available from there.
Instead of #googleplus, I use #diaspora (diasporafoundation.org).
Instead of #chrome, I use #icecat (Icecat), #firefox (Firefox), and #tor #browser (torproject.org).
Instead of #chromeos, I use #Parabola #GNU #linux-libre (parabola.nu) and #linuxmint (linuxmint.com).
Instead of google #calendar, I use #nextcloud / #owncloud calendar (nextcloud.com).
Instead of #googledrive, I use #nextcloud and #syncthing (syncthing.net)
Instead of google forms, I use Framaforms.
It is only available in French, which unfortunately I don't speak, but that does not stop me from regularly using it. B-)
Instead of doodle, I use Framadate.
Instead of #android, I use #replicant OS (replicant.us) on a Technoethical S3 phone.
#FSFE has a good website freeyourandroid.org about liberating your device.
Instead of #googleplay, I use #F-Droid (f-droid.org).
If you want to reach all apps from Google Play, I recommend #yalp store (YalpStore), but be warned that most of the apps there are not #free-software.
Instead of #googlemaps, I use #openstreetmap (openstreetmap.org).
Instead of google street view, I use #mapillary (mapillary.com).
For text #chat, I use #xmmp with my #disroot account, with pix-art messanger #fork of #conversations (Conversations) on mobile and gajim on desktop.
For video chat, I use #jitsi (jitsi.org).
#Framasoft and #diroot offers plenty of other great services. See degooglisons-internet.org/en/l… and disroot.org/en/#_white-bar
Finally, I recommend you to spread/share your desire, successes and difficulties (both online and offline) of getting free from Google and #GAFAM ( #Google, #Apple, #Facebook, #Amazon, #Microsoft) in general.

What did I missed? What is you favourite alternative? and why? #freesoftware #foss #floss #open-source #opensource #linux #gnu-linux #fdroid #technoethical #mobile #software #privacy #surveillance #freedom disroot.org/en/services/email

I am excited about micromobility and car sharing and all of that but the most powerful transit technologies are already known:

+ Buses
+ Bicycles
+ Bike paths
+ Walkable mixed-use neighborhoods
+ Dedicated bus lanes
+ Free buses
+ Seriously, LOTS of buses & bike paths

#Coy.im is a fairly new, cross-platform, desktop chat app, for the #Jabber network (#XMPP protocol). It's privacy-focused, for example it uses #TOR and #OTR encryption for all chats by default (not #OMEMO, interesting choice). Also, they're avoiding implementing some features, like highlighted links, they say could add unnecessary complexity and more risk of bugs and thus security flaws. They say they are looking for people willing to do security audits on their code:

I wish nobody used #reCaptcha. Not only does it forces users to allow Goggle to run scripts in their browser, making users do unpaid mechanical turking for Goggle is just rude. If it contributed to a data commons, like training free code AI, I would't mind so much.

HP's Z series is among my favorite creative professional computer lines. The ZBook 14u is nice, but I'm more of a Zbook X2 guy.

Got my OpenVPN virtual machine running nicely! Got a static route between the VPN & local subnets. I can remote to internal servers. But I still haven't figured out how to make SMB file shares show up for VPN users. :-\

Wow, we did not expect the level of interest you all have had in the #PineTime!

More info:
- Cost will be approximately 25USD
- Charging dock included in price
- Built-in heartbeat monitor
- Case built of Zinc alloy and plastic
- Battery life measured in days
- Sorry, can't run Linux itself. SoC is nRF52832, which uses a Cortex-M4 core. That's why we need FreeRTOS :)

We all know that Google (with Chrome-ium) has at least close to 90% of the browser marketshare on the internet.

Which is your primary browser on your computer?

Remember that Brave, Opera and Edge are Chromium derivatives. I consider Safari to be separate since it's Webkit and not Blink.

Retoot this to get more votes in.
