With all this news about #BigTech doing layoffs because they are replacing people with #AI, I wonder if that is actually PR spin and what is actually happening is all the #AntiTrust actions are actually biting the monopolists where it hurts: their bottom line
@eighthave many of fediversers are involved with independent tech, in my case it's #deltachat as you know, but it's pretty clear that given overall tech dev trajectories we are but an enclave of enclaves with no strategy to displace gafam for real. This makes it all the more worthwhile to.engage and is the very definition of courage, that it doesn't engage because it expects to win but acts out of an ethical inclination and a wil to win which we need to cultivate.
I think it is more that the quarterly profit growth is not there any more.
The stockholders are addicted to money, and always want more.
@SpaceLifeForm yeah exactly. I'm trying to suss out why the quarterly growth is not there any more, since that could be a measure of my own work, e.g. on #FDroid #Debian and exposing #tracking and #SurveillanceCapitalism
"She canna take any more, Cap'n! She's gonna blow!"
It is time for the greedy stockholders to pay back to society.
@eighthave maybe anti trust plays a role but there maybe also is a tech hype tiredness and dark #luddist forces making "dot com v5" ideologies run against a wall of lacking profit. That's how I prefer to interpret things because it's more enjoyable #bias
