@sir Well, there's still amplified, but yeah, that worldgen was amazing.

That being said, a piece of software you as the author don't understand, don't know why it works well, and can't reliably write from scratch is... kind of a liability.

I wonder if anyone fully understands how to engineer a good worldgen (as opposed to stumbling upon it by accident)

Well, cuberite (open source minecraft compatible server) has given it a shot... and produced a few talks about it: youtube.com/watch?v=TcdwRt0RKP -- but I think it may be following more closely in the rewrite's footsteps

@zachdecook @wolf480pl @sir That’s kind of neat. Though he doesn’t explain how it can be divided into smaller pieces, for that last zoom operation thingy. Like generating one tiny part of the final zoomed in map, as the world is generated on-demand, without having the whole map of the whole world generated first.
