@tomasino Music to my ears. ๐Ÿ˜„

I just wish I didn't have to charge for it. Someone should drop ten million dollars on my head so I can just make it free for everyone.

@HerraBRE @tomasino@mastodon.sdf.org Is it easy/possible to self-host a pagekite server? The easier it is to set up, the more public instances could be available.

@zachdecook @tomasino For security reasons, it would be very unwise to trust a stranger to relay your clear-text HTTP traffic.

TLS-only public relays would make sense, but...

And yes, it's relatively easy. Just apt install the .deb and configure it. The config can be tricky, but there's little admin after that aside from apt upgrades and adding/removing users.

@zachdecook @tomasino This is one of few instances where I consider paying someone to be better than a community of random volunteers, from a security POV.

Fewer people to trust (there's only one of me, it's not too hard to vet my reputation), and incentives (I want users happy so they keep paying me) are aligned to keep everyone honest.

But thanks to Let's Encrypt, maybe it's becoming feasible to work on a TLS-only community pagekite cloud. That would be neat!
