I find it fascinating that after all the years Mozilla has been developing #Rust and integrating it into Firefox, Rust has not gone above 10% of the codebase yet: https://4e6.github.io/firefox-lang-stats/
Though 10% is still millions of line of code 🤯

Pretty much every closed system you depend on (operating systems, libs, online services, social media, marketplaces) will eventually make decisions you can’t abide, it’s largely just a matter of when.
It’s ok to depend on them anyway, so long as you don’t delude yourself of this fact, and are prepared to pull the rip cord when the inevitable happens. Always have a plan B, even if that’s “burn it all and start again”
If you’re not willing to accept this, only depend on things you can control.

@dimillian @amadejpapez mastodon.social blocks all Twitter replicators like bird.makeup unfortunately. ☹️ I do have 7k users on other servers though!
@dimillian @amadejpapez But it must something else, because I can search for this status url on my instance but it still doesn't work in the app. Is it maybe some activitypub note property that is missing from my implementation?
@dimillian @amadejpapez that’s exactly my question: how do you detect if a link is a toot link? My activity pub project’s link don’t get detected, ex: https://bird.makeup/users/josephjacks_/statuses/1621965238487900161 just wondering what I could tweak to make it work
@amadejpapez @dimillian ivory does keep you in the app to show you a post when it’s a mastodon link though, but not a bird.makeup link! I assume both app look for the same thing
I tried making QT work with Ivory and IceCube from bird.makeup, but I'm not sure what is required. I've setup meta tags, and I support json requests, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know what exactly those apps look for to check if a link is a QT?
Help would be greatly appreciated!

Will we have another wave of migration to mastodon, but this time of all the fun and useful bots?
Regarding the change Twitter is making to their API :
To my knowledge there are 2 projects that won’t be affected: nitter.net and bird.makeup because those two are not using the official api, but instead are basically pretending to be human browsing Twitter.com
Happy to help projects that help find people to follow on the fediverse do the same thing
