@condalmo That could work, thanks! If someone post again, it will break a test, but that looks good enough
Anyone working on a equivalent of Yo for the fediverse?
@smallsco Yeah, there is a memory leak somewhere... I'm hunting for it!
In the same vein, I'm thinking of giving priority to the accounts above, so that they are always posting to the fediverse in a timely fashion, at the expense of smaller account.
@jay I would recommend having a whitelist at your reverse proxy that only allows for your mastodon instance's IP.
Also whitelist for accounts are probably going away eventually
@cautionwip @awilbert @wspd7pio No, it's because bird.makeup is very loaded at this moment. My goal with the optimizations I'm doing is that tweets are replicated within an hour, but we are more at like 4-5 hours behind right now
@vincent
thy for giving us a simple bridge
It really enlightens my day to have @terriblemaps here!
So I spent the whole day optimizing bird.makeup and got about a 5x in performance. Things are starting to run better, seems we are iterating on all accounts within 4-5 hours right now. I have other ideas that will probably get another 3x that I want to implement tonight, so performance should be right on target.
Until more people sign up of course! 🙃
@christopher I mean they did fire everyone working on that! 😇
But seriously as long as people can see tweets without logging in I can make it work
@alvinashcraft that's gonna be a little Christmas present to myself 🤓

One question I get asked a lot about bird.makeup is: How fast is federation (time between tweet posted and on your fediverse timeline)? And how fast will it be in the future?
So we did fall to days with the influx of new users, which is unusable. I'm working on a few simple changes to bring in down to hours, and in the long term I want to bring in down to less than a single hour. It will never be realtime though, due to how I fetch tweets.
