https://bird.makeup/ has 900 users now 😵
@RaymondBarbour @awilbert It is getting busier that's for sure! Right now it takes a few hours to cycle through accounts, but I have lots of ideas to improve this.
@GPHemsley It takes a few hours to cycle through twitter accounts and push new tweets. How long have you been missing updates for?
@awilbert @christopher Yes, it is designed as a big instance. That bar comes from the original @BirdsiteLIVE . I'll switch it during my holiday break to the time of the last fetched tweet + the time it takes to iterate on all twitter accounts that are followed.
@awilbert @BikingViking @wspd7pio Thank you for doing user support for me! That is right, the service iterates on all twitter accounts that are followed, then forwards that to fediverse users. That whole process takes (for now) a few hours.
Welcome to the fediverse @oising !
@kkremitzki I’m working on https://bird.makeup which allows you to follow Twitter users directly from Mastodon. Feel free to use it!
Here's a neat interview with @blaine about Mastodon and how Fission is working to bring IPFS to the Fediverse. https://thenewstack.io/why-a-twitter-founding-engineer-is-now-all-in-on-mastodon/
One of the things I would miss here on Mastodon was all of the alerts from my local infrastructure and government twitter accounts. These will likely take a very long time to make the migration.
With https://bird.makeup, you can create bot accounts that put those tweets in your Mastodon timeline. For instance, I follow the Washington State Patrol account for regional weather related road closures and accident reports:

I've waited a few days to post this about the #mastodonmigration. Here is the evolution of the new accounts in #mastodon after the events in the last week. After each new ban/suspension in the #bluebird we see a spike in new accounts in #mastodon. But recent growth seems to be more steady at around 50k per day. Since the #bluebird purchase by Musk, more than 3 million new accounts were created in #mastodon.
We may never be able to match the incredible achievements of #JohnMastodon, but the European Union still plays its part!
We are proud funders of Mastodon through the Next Generation Internet initiative (@EC_NGI).

@chkuendig @couts Glad you like it!
I just pushed an update with regards to videos. They should work now, but do ping me if you see anything weird.
Threads is probably the next thing I want to make work great. I don't have unit tests for that part yet and I've probably broken them.
Quotes tweets are more complicated... They don't have a native equivalent and I'm not sure yet of the design I'll do. I can make them act like thread in the most simple cases
But anyway thanks for the feedback!
