I work in professional fact-checking and content moderation for my day job at https://meedan.com and I have begun conversations about ways to do content moderation as a federated service that admins can pay to subscribe to (where moderators are paid a living wage, maybe in worker owned coops even, as opposed to big social media companies using basically sweatshop moderation labor)
@chad I have lots of Azure credits, I can run and administer a sidekiq worker VM for you if you want. Happy to discuss it further

I just deleted my twitter account. I actually feel sad about it. It used to be this amazing hive mind where I could learn or laugh at any interaction, but I can't stand seeing it becoming the platform of cyberbullies.
At the same time, I have never been this hopeful about the fediverse. I have been here for years, and it feels all the twitter magic is pouring here all of a sudden. #twittermigration

What's missing from these pictures?
No on-street parking makes all the difference in the cities of #Japan. The 1962 "proof-of-parking" law means you buy a car, you've got to show you've got a place—off public streets—to warehouse it.
Reason No. 2342 Mastodon is awesome: @nova is hosting a mastodon instance with 20k active users from the rack behind her in her tech show (see https://clips.twitch.tv/PerfectCovertGarageHumbleLife-wMehc7mQFdX5Jjl8 ). Simply seeing that knowledge of how things work being shared brings me joy!
