I wonder how the upcoming @PINE64 phone is going to compare to older options. Will I be better off flashing something like @ubports to an old Nexus? I really want a phone running FOSS! Will the new Pine Phone come with the same warning as the Pinebook about not using it for daily life? Or will it be more like the Pro- not powerful but definitely usable? I can't afford a @purism Librem 5 which is what I really want. What's my best (usable) sub-$200 option?

@tpharrison @ubports @purism

The #pinephone has the same SoC as the non-Pro Pinebook (Allwinner A64). It is a bit slow by modern standards, but significantly faster than a Nexus 5 and slightly behind the Librem 5 (same cores, different clock speed). Unless you plan on doing a lot of intensive mobile gaming, you shouldn't have issues with performance.

I'm probably a bit biased, but I'd say the Pinephone will be the best affordable FOSS phone. ;)

@PINE64 @ubports @purism Sweet! That is what I wanted to hear!!! Christmas list made.
