@LAS I think they are pretty equal when it comes to postmarket os, but I have only tried "enchilada".
@usia #gnomemobile Totally agree that a manual OSK activation should be implemented!
@lebout2canap I am having an issue with locations services not being available through the system settings app right now, so no GPS.
@lebout2canap Luckily I haven't encountered that problem yet.
@oausi #pmos #gnomemobile I followed this guide https://gitlab.com/NekoCWD/nekotorch and then installed gnome-extensions from Flathub to enable it.
@interdependence It is much more stable than I expected, especially phone calls that didn't work the last time I tried PMOS. Occasional crashes, but to be expected running Edge I guess. There are a few annoying things, e.g. OSK not activating in all apps, copy/paste by long press not working everywhere, location services missing from system settings app (https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues/2769) and BT mouse and KB not working.
Overall though, such a nice experience! #gnomemobile
@linmob @antonok Maybe the phosh solution with a long press on the bottom bar could make its way into #gnomemobile eventually?
#postmarketos #linuxmobile #gnome I have been daily driving PMOS edge with Gnome mobile on my OnePlus 6 for a week now. So far quite pleased with the performance, despite a few glitches, so I decided to donate some money to both of the providers making this possible - PMOS and Gnome. Thank you for making this possible. Looking forward to further development.
p.s. Managed to get the flashlight working today, another bonus! d.s.
@antonok Long press works in Mobian and Phosh, but it doesn't seem to work with Gnome mobile on PMOS yet.
@antonok Hmm, doesn't seem to work on my phone atm (if you by bottom bar mean the thin white line at the bottom of the screen). Will try again when I get new system updates.
@zwarf I ran Mobian on L5 as my daily driver for a while, and generally it worked well. When the modem crashed, I think it always showed by that the indicator icon was gone. Toggling the hardware kill switch usually fixed it.
I am a bit of a phone and distro hopper though, so starting this past Saturday I am using postmarketOS edge with Gnome-mobile on a OnePlus 6 that I have as a daily driver. It has its quirks, but I will continue using it for a while and see how it goes 馃檪.
@zwarf Difficult question. I switched to Mobian recently, because that OS is more up to date than PureOS Byzantium. Most things work as good as, or better, than Byzantium. Cell modem is slower to wake up from suspend and seems to crash more often in Mobian though.
@cas Just started daily driving OP6 w PMOS edge/Gnome-mobile instead of L5 w Mobian (PureOS development on a pause atm). I like the experience, but miss the camera, app scaling and the ability to bring up OSK when it doesn't trigger. Anyway, extremely impresses by the work you do!
@dantalion Thanks, nice writeup!
@isyourbrainFOSS @e8johan @jlcrawf@social.librem.one I am using a separate LineageOS phone for that. I never carry it around.
@dantalion Please do!
Linux and Mobile Linux enthusiast. Currently running pmOS on OnePlus 6 (enchilada) with Gnome Mobile.
