Moving an account to a different instance seems to work quite smooth (we'll see 🙂), it's not possible to take your old posts with you. Thats a shame, but AFAIU they are quite tightly bound to the old identity.
I guess it would be a funny experience if you'd re-toot-ed your old toots from the export automatically.
Would be a little like https://www.tagesschau.de/thema/tagesschau_vor_20_jahren/ and probably you'd find some jewels to comment on looking back at them.
Toots could be marked as "historic" with the date mentioned the original toot had (would split some toots in more parts probably).
Sounds like a nice little python project ;-) ...
@chrichri :-) I thought that maybe I should rather put things that I deem of a more long term value in my blog.
And I wonder if moving to a new instance really is something that gets used quite often in mastodon, 'cause the old posts seem to anker someone quite heavily to an instance and I guess most would not just leave them behind. That would would make moving as impractical as in the "non-fediverse".
