@thelinuxEXP Have you checked out #Flowbade? It's a great contender for this spot as well.
@sindastra I thought the same thing when I first saw this toot as well. π I applaud @Tutanota for fighting the good fight, though. Keep it up! ππ½
@Shadowstreik@mstdn.social @protonvpn I just noticed that they are already working on it. It's still in beta, though.
One week to go until #BlackFriday. Let's choose to *not* join this hype! ππͺ It's just a method by marketers and advertisers to keep you buying. That's why we are saying no to Black Friday. Instead we are offering fair prices all year round: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/black-friday-hype #CyberMonday
@vattuvarg @Tutanota That's pretty neat! ππ½

@sindastra @Tutanota Yeah.... I agree that Matrix still has a long way to go. I myself don't like it very much in its current state. I also dislike the interface of Element. Yet, it does show promise. Hopefully, it will become better as it matures.
Also, I don't think you have to worry very much about unintentional backdoors, unless you are worried about targeted surveillance or something like that. If you kept the software relatively up-to-date, you should be fine. Am I wrong? π€
@sindastra @Tutanota This particular piece of potential legislation doesn't concern Linux. It only concerns communication platforms that use end-to-end encryption, like WhatsApp and Signal. If it does come to pass, I think a more suitable course of action would be to host your own Matrix server. π
Check out how we will convince YouTube users to get a secure email account! ππ We hope you like it. π

The EU Council is pushing for encryption backdoors to messenger apps such as WhatsApp and Signal to fight terrorism (German article): https://fm4.orf.at/stories/3008930/
Despite the fact that errors of investigation in Austrian authorities had made the attack possible in the first place and not a lack of digital surveillance powers. Politicians must start to understand that more surveillance will not lead to more security. That's why we fight any attempt for an encryption backdoor: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/why-a-backdoor-is-a-security-risk/
Nine years ago, we started developing Tutanota. The first years were hard, lots of challenges had to be overcome to release an encrypted email client. Now, Tutanota is growing by the day, thanks to our awesome paying users. https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/premium-pro-business Thank you! πππ

@Tutanota Awesome! I am stoked that you guys finally made Tutanota officially available as a Flatpak. Thanks a lot, guys!
@t0k It does have its uses, though. Using a VPN (regardless of whether it is Google or Proton behind it) can upgrade a user's security, especially in instances where you have to connect to an insecure network. However, saying that it will improve users' privacy is indeed a big joke. I agree with @protonmail that this could potentially be another attempt from Google to have complete access to all of your online activity.
@protonvpn Those guys at Google sure know how to crack a joke. π
Last week, Google announced its own VPN service. Trusting Google's VPN would be like trusting a VPN from the NSA. Here's why giving Google direct access to all your online activity is a terrible idea: https://protonvpn.com/blog/google-vpn/
