If you do not know Mark Lanegan, now is a good time to check him out.
Awesome live studio performance. Not sure what style of music this is, but it reminds me a bit of Johnny Cash.

We are delighted to receive $10K in funding from @mozilla this week. We pitched CryptPad to the MOSS Open Source Seed Award back in February at #FOSDEM. We will use these funds to improve loading times.

I set up my own #Jitsti server on the cheapest #Linode money can buy ($5/mo). I was really surprised how easy it was. I've only done small tests with one other person, but so far it looks like it performs really well.

The amount of time it took to provision the server, set up the DNS record, install Jitsi, and start testing was probably under 30 minutes. No troubleshooting required. The install went exactly like the tutorial said it would.

When even the BBC is criticising Zoom, you know it's not just greenie anarchist human-rights-defending geeks complaining...

@okennedy notifications have an established (and documented) cross desktop API. Generic lock screen plugins need more thought both code and design wise so we want to collect some use cases that can't be done via notifications first.

@fatboy @dpreacher If you like invidious, you may also like nitter. It’s an alternative frontend for twitter.
There is an firefox addon called Invidition which redirects all traffic to those services.

@MrChainman A must-read if you're asking questions about compiler development. That's one of the best texts about programming I've ever seen: "Reflections on Trusting Trust" by Ken Thomson dl.acm.org/doi/pdf/10.1145/358

Pro-tip for Firefox users: open a new tab, now prefix whatever you type in the address bar with "%" to search your open tabs and switch to one.

You can use Tracking Token Stripper browser extension, or ClearURLs browser extension to do this automatically.

We are getting asked about "verified accounts" quite often recently, so lets try to clear this up: There are no verified accounts on Mastodon like there are on Twitter. Some Mastodon instances have a custom emoji that looks like the verified icon on Twitter and people put that in their display name, probably because it looks fancy. It does not mean anything though.
