@erikstl To be honest, if it just works as a phone that can call and text and maybe do a duckduckgo search at first, I will be happy. I don't really use any apps, save for a music and podcasting app. I'm sure it would be painful, but if I need to, I can compile a podcast app for the Librem 5 until there is one available that fits the phone's screen size.
But you're right. It won't likely be quite as useful as Android at first, but it will feature true convergence... which is kind of awesome!
@erikstl I had to keep mentioning it for months, then one day she tried to call me and my phone wouldn't ring and she told me "You just need to go get a new phone."
I said... yes ma'am... but it will take a while to get it.
She is very annoyed with me, but I think I will still be married at the end of this adventure. :D :D
@erikstl It's tough though, you know? Fosstodon in home, but I have a Librem 5 on the way and I like everything in its right place (Radiohead anyone?). I really love the whole idea of Librem One and unified things like that. :D
@erikstl Also, I can highly recommend Slackware, but it definitely isn't for everyone...
@erikstl Don't get me wrong, I like Debian okay, but Slackware and the way everything is setup just really appeals to me a lot. It was also my first distro. :D
I am giving Librem.One a good go. I plan on using it for a month or so. If I really like it (so far I do!) I might keep it. It is a hard decision because Fosstodon is like my home.
To my #Slackware friends out there, how cool would it be to have a set of stickers to adorn your laptops and cars and all manner of things with the Slackware logo and other things like that? Since the Slackware store is gone, you have to make your own. It is pretty cheap on Sticker Mule, but minimum order is 50 stickers for custom stickers.
I was thinking about even if there was a lot of interest, I could order like 500 and sell them for a little profit, then send that profit to Volkerding.

I wrote a little article about ASCIIDoc and how it has been a net benefit to my writing career. I hope you enjoy. It is a short article, so it shouldn't be a long read. Just a few thoughts.
I'm watching Merlin (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin_(2008_TV_series) for probably the 5th time and just realized that in almost every episode the Sutton Hoo helmet from Anglo-Saxon times appears in the background! How friggin' awesome is that???
@hund@linuxrocks.online you are correct about that. I tend to believe in the anarchy of the web and the power that it holds. But this scourge of JS across all things is a tough and horrible invasion of unsafe programming.
One would think that making your website lean and mean would matter more, but JS has become the 'Flash' of 2001. 😃😃
@hund@linuxrocks.online yes indeed. It would have been nice because it is a super strict standard... but people don't like super strict.
Also, I tried sending you a test message and Conversations complained about out of date OMEMO devices or something. Do I need to download some app for this?
@hund@linuxrocks.online there is probably a way to do it with XHTML 1.0 strict, but when I was learning HTML I kinda glossed over that whole realm... hehehe
@hund@linuxrocks.online oh that is actually my next project. I need to.modify some CSS and add the the correct elements to the head, but Alas I must work once again! 😃😃 work really sucks all of the fun out of my projects.
@hund@linuxrocks.online Ooooo.... that's my problem... dang. I just assumed it would work for both. I am going to be honest and say that I don't really know the difference between the two. I know they are different, but I figured that they were similar enough that they would work the same way.

@hund@linuxrocks.online on android I have been using Revolution. I got one server working but it took many many tries. I don't know why it wouldn't work. Perhaps it has something to do with the FreeNode network. It finally let me connect, but then I lost the connection and it wouldn't connect again. I tried MEMO encryption and that's when it simply stopped connecting.
On Linux I use WeeChat and it works perfectly. Encrypted or not. So my problem might just be with the clients.
