I'm missing my old network on the birdsite for this kind of query. Any #archaeology and/or #digitalarchives folks out there with recommendations on curating Ground Penetrating Radar datasets (DZT, DZX)? Challenges: they are v big & proprietary, we don't even have the software to read them in native format. I'm not even sure whether we should accept or recommend curation elsewhere.
@rjblaskiewicz Gross. I'd send a cat pic, but I've got nothing on you folks' faction of (occasionally fruity) felines.
@apschmidt お誕生日おめでとうございます! 🎂

I see NPR & PBS are leaving Twitter after being mislabeled as state-affiliated (or funded) media. I personally would love to see their counterpart in my area, NHK_News, follow suit.
So far, NHK has not received similar mislabeling as far as I can see, but who knows whether that might change if they ruffle the wrong feathers in this region?
I need your help…
NPR is leaving Twitter but they are planning to focus on Instagram
We need to tell them to join the Fediverse
Many of their journalists’ accounts, as well as their main account, haven’t been active on mastodon. Tell them how much we need them here. (In fact, they should have their own instance)
Use the link, tell NPR we are waiting for them here and spread the word far and wide:
👋 Hello #fediverse! I'm going into a meeting at 4ET to talk about our newsroom's social media options.
If you think our station and other NPR stations should have a Mastodon server and a broader presence in the #fediverse, pls boost this post. If you have thoughts, please reply, I want to hear them!
@idoubtit Yeah, their nearest consulate is still all the way over in Houston. Better to route it through local authorities, like you advised.
@idoubtit I'm also conscious of how much of an understatement may exist in the last sentence of that reply.
@idoubtit Ideally it should go back to the embassy or consulate for that country (best chance of it getting back to the owner, or at least notifying them that their citizen is now without it). But not all cases are ideal, and if it's a frequent occurrence at her work site, it might be worth engaging our own State Dept for routing. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/consularnotification/ConsularNotificationandAccess.html
@rjblaskiewicz That sounds like a very specific fraction, so I'd say you've left yourself a fair bit of latitude on price. 😉
@idoubtit That pilot's CO is probably saying the same thing (and then some) between facepalms.

Oh dear. I've just been informed that collecting the names of every person on the planet for my naughty and nice lists is, and I quote, “a significant and wholly irresponsible breach of #GDPR “.
I'm going to hand out about 8 billion consent forms soon. If you could all get them back to me ASAP that would be appreciated.
とった!
Always cool to get a new library card, but this is the most excited I've been about acquiring one since I was at a similar reading level in English! #ButterflyInTheSky
