@hans ya I know.. I've been struggling too.. But once I ditch my android for my librem phone, that's my excuse.. Other ways will be email (my own server) or pick up the phone and call me. Good ol fashioned communication :-)

@purism once I upgrade my home/servers, I'll be running all communication from there and will only tell friends and family this is how to talk to me.. As google and Facebook will be completely gone

@lunduke with the default dialer, are there any settings where you can connect to a VoIP sip account?

@lunduke I would love to see if zoiper or another VoIP software work on it. I use VoIP.ms for my cell number and use zoiper on my android phone currently. Would love to see a program I can install and configure my VoIP SIP account with.

@GoatsLive @lunduke lol we did that in my office, a fellow tech whose name is also jen. Coloured a little box black, wrote internet on it and put in a little red diode that blinks with a little battery for it.

@purism Fedora on my thinkpad running cinnamon DE, for browsing and playing my old games in wine or dosbox, centos on my server. Fedora on my gaming rig for wow play. BTW, I want a librem laptop the only thing holding me back is an Ethernet port, I don't want to use a dongle just another thing to lose.

@purism I got the family plan, my wife and daughter are using it, we mainly use the chat right now which is great. we used to use hangouts no longer. I'm not much of a social media person, but mastadoon seems interesting. Now the fun part to get my friends and family to start using it instead of fb messenger, one I get my librem 5 I'll be off Facebook for good (I already am, but just kept the messenger on my android for some ppl)

Who knew that nearly 20 years later this would become true with Microsoft announcing their own Linux distro..
