@feld thanks for this link. Appreciated! Do you know if is it something specific for akkoma or are those configuration options available in pleroma as well?
If you were wondering how well #XMPP works on mobile devices: The XMPP-based MoyaApp has 6.5M users in South Afrika 🇿🇦.

Today is a good day to send eight bucks to your Mastodon instance admins.
@humanetech I've been learning it since a while now, in my free time. Just toying around with it but pretty interested in it
@humanetech erm.. I don't think I've received any DM. I'm afraid they're disabled in this instance 😔
Conversations 2.11 will ship the largest protocol update in years. Traditionally it takes 6-7 round trips (not including TLS) to fully establish an #XMPP connection.
Thanks to the work @mattj and I have been doing over the last two months we can bring this down to just one.
This can significantly improve the reliability on flaky or throttled connections.
@prosodyim has community modules for the required server extensions (Bind 2, SASL 2, FAST)
@humanetech are you aware of any kind of post explaining the rationale of the #akkoma fork?
@humanetech @bonfire will check them! Thanks!
You may be aware that there is something called the #Fediverse.
But do you know about all the different types of applications that run on the Fediverse?
I made this visual to give myself and others something to point at when explaining "the big picture".
You may be surprised by how many services beyond Mastodon there are to explore.
Download it for free here and use as you please:

That post also has links to all the different applications.
hey #fediverse! I'm planning on #selfhost my #activitypub instance and was thinking of #pleroma, me being interested in #elixir. Is there any way to have my user as @marcos@example.org (like my email my xmpp jid, ...) while having example.org dedicated to existing stuff? I expected to be able to run pleroma at social.example.org. But anything I've found related to this, are rejected MRs at gitlab. Any help is appreciated! 😊

Yesterday I released Converse 10.0.0
https://github.com/conversejs/converse.js/releases/tag/v10.0.0
Converse is a web-based #XMPP client.
The UI is all web components done with https://lit.dev
There's an Electron version that will be updated to 10.0.0 soon and a Tauri version.
Tauri is a Rust-based Electron alternative.
Converse-Tauri is the first XMPP client that supports QUICK, via xmpp-proxy from @moparisthebest
Huh. I didn't realize this particular fact (from the Mastodon intro blog):
"Hashtags are a really important thing on Mastodon. In fact, they are the only part of the content of toots that is searchable. So if you want to be found by people who are looking for toots about photography it’s best to include #photography."
Good to know that *only* hashtags will show up in searches. Very different from the bird place. #introduction #twittermigration #mastodon
⚠️ Android users, you don't have to wait for our app!
