I love my Linux setup with runit.
It's easy, it works as I expect, I have full control
and is veeery fast.

If you are tired of #systemd, maybe give runit a try. It may not have dependencies but you can write your own run scripts which basically check for another service to be started and if not, simply exit early.

TIL (thankfully second hand) that running "systemd-tmpfiles --purge" will delete /home in systemd 256 [1]. Apparently if you think linux is mainly for running cloud services, this seems reasonable to you. Or something.

[1] tested with systemd-tmpfiles --dry-run --purge on debian. I guess it _could_ be a Debian addition, but I'm guessing not.

@m0xee there are legitimately good people there I would love to follow and see on my timeline but their admins are literally a loser irl and blocks everybody to cope with that fact

You might be surprised: there's a Milky-V that's pin-compatible with the RPi CM-4, so a lot of the places you could plug a CM-4 work. Like this guy got it to work in a Turing Pi 2 (FSE's currently living on a TPi2): https://feldspaten.org/2023/10/27/RISC-V-in-a-Turing-Pi-2/ . There are Pi laptop kits that are basically a CM-4 carrier board with battery/keyboard/screen/battery, right, and I imagine that you could get a MilkyV to run in a lot of them.
