Font rendering in modern terminal is order of magnitude more complex than it was back in rxvt days, when it was about displaying rows and columns of monospaced characters. Alacritty is both GPU-accelerated and in Rust, and I just don't see how it takes insane amount of time to "initialise the GL context", it opens the instant I release the keys bound to opening a new terminal 🤷

Is this only true for group calls? Because with 1 on 1 calls my impressions are mostly good — even with video. It's all the same WebRTC, but things are probably more complex with more participants 🤔

Check if it has Internet recovery option though — try booting with Option key pressed and see if there is such an option, there use to be possible to connect to a wireless network from this EFI shell even, I'm just not sure if its present on your particular MBP.
Or… keep using Linux indeed — might make more sense than using no longer supported release of Mac OS X, I use Void on my still (barely) alive 17" MBP, it's one hell of a machine!

At some point they've added recovery from the Internet.

I can in theory make a image of bootable recovery flash drive with dd — not much, but at least that would enable you to restore a .dmg image (presumably downloaded to another flash drive) to the third flash drive. You have to have at least 3 USB ports though 😂

Why? I even run shit in venv from runit with no issues.
Just source the activate script first: ". bin/activate", then "exec python3 whatever.py" — you're all set!
