And offline works for base software, but not for additional instruments, without which Live is more or less useless for things other than deejaying. I've been exchanging e-mails with Ableton for over a month, but there is no one there who can still remember how this is supposed to work for older versions. I have the software, I have a license to use it, but I can't do that because "old" — the fuckers! So much for paying for software licenses 😩

It was a really cool machine back in its days, not "weak" by any means — I remember using it for jamming with friends and recording it using Firewire interface into Ableton Live: bass, mic and couple of MIDI controllers, it did slow down to a crawl, but it could handle it.
I wish I could "recreate" this experience, but I can't activate Live 8 anymore: online activation fails because libraries in Mac OS X 10.4 can't handle newer TLS…

Yeah, some "Late 2005" models came with 1,5 G4 — I remember looking for one of these specifically when buying mine.
I don't benefit from 64 Mb VRAM these days though as it's running headless, but it used to be possible to play Mac OS X version of C&C Generals on it — ran fine.

I have to admit though that Poland isn't the worst when it comes to child welfare — so at least it's not 100% pure unadulterated hypocrisy as it is in Russia where all social support programmes for young mothers were cut, but they've doubled down on attempting to convince everyone that women simply have to do it 🤦

And bodily autonomy is of course still worth fighting for — this shit ain't right in US, in Russia and in Poland too — first and foremost because it doesn't work: I've seen the birthrate grow rapidly in post-Soviet Russia with improving economic conditions and in USSR the number of abortions was catastrophic when no health insurance covered that.
…but in a more practical sense, can't she just go and do it in Slovenia? 🤔
