This was a great topic to explore in a longer post… and I actually did, but I wanted to proofread it properly and then I forgot to get back to you with a link to it 😅

It's also available via HTTPS, m0xEE.Net/gemlog/posts/2024-09 , but I encourage you to use Gemini.

Me neither! And I'm not even a devout crustacean, I just like to play the devil's advocate from time to time, but I do not do that to provoke people on purpose.

@romin
I obviously don't get it!
Such attitude makes the wall of text unnecessary and that is completely unacceptable! ☺

I think it's about not solving problems by creating new ones which might bite you in the ass much later. Having the liberties of C and C++ is prone to introducing problems, but you can't prevent unwanted behaviour without introducing any overhead at all to cases when it's the intended behaviour — even in theory 🤷

@JoseMariaHDZ
Oh, and sorry for quoting your post and putting it where you no longer have control over it. I can update it if you wish or remove it entirely, but I'd like to keep it for the context, otherwise the designer being brought up makes no sense 😆

@iska
It might get very complicated at this point, opening a dispute is easy before confirm you've received that package in full, but now — I don't think they have a set procedure like Amazon does.
You can try contacting the merchant, but they would likely tell you to destroy it — sending it back is most likely simply not worth it, they might make you a discount on another unit, but might as well not 🤷

@selzero
That’s probably where JD got the idea in the first place.

@kirby @asa
No you don't! And you can't even post the proof *pics* anymore — they've seized your domain 😂

@realcaseyrollins @romin @kaia
That's sad 😿
I like joking about someone getting eaten, but of course I don't want people eating actual cats, I like cats.

@Hyolobrika @feld
Just noticed this reply, sorry. No, it's not just about stating the intent clearly, it's more of a build flag — you have to build this crate with support for handling such cases, by default this code just gets excluded, and as this isn't a default feature, I suppose it doesn't get tested as thoroughly, it might take time for the devs to notice that something is broken in that code. Which IMO is a quite different approach.

@romin
Of course not! I just like walls of text: reading walls of text, writing walls of text and a like economic topics 🤩
I'm not against posting images, but I prefer text any day and videos are definitely not my thing.
