True, we've been just discussing this in this thread a couple of days ago: social.librem.one/@m0xee/11310
While it's still possible to configure software created long ago, such as Firefox, to make working with self-signed certs more bearable, with newer software, such as rustls crate I mention in the linked post, it might no longer be true. In newer software working with HTTPS self-signed certs are mostly ostracised.

I have a love-hate relationship with LetsEncrypt. Obviously it makes like simpler (and cheaper) for many use cases.

But it also contributed to radicalization of browsers about self signed certificates.

Good article! Much more elaborate than the one I was referring to. Mansky's words are spot on — and he's the one whose opinion I trust!

@kravietz @meduzaproject
I swear, I've seen a good opinion piece about this movie, I think it was Moscow Times, but I can't find that article anymore — could they have removed it, why? 🤔
The weakest part about the director of this movie is that she used to work for RT, she claims that she no longer does, but she also claims that she went to the front to make it without Russia's Ministry of Defence's approval — which is outright hard to believe if you're well-versed in this topic.

Hey, we're on Fedi we all here do! Some day we will even seek it… but not today 🫠
Having vivid imagination isn't a sin, besides — check the colour, it matches perfectly! If I were making conspiracy theories up on purpose — then you would be in trouble 😈

Ha-ha-ha, good point! TBQF I didn't expect it to appear only in the 2024 edition and I wanted to take a look at what was in version 6, but ultimately got lazy and just gave a link to what I had on hand 😅
I still think there is nothing with GNU approach: some want the simplest implementation, they don't — and it's their call, it's not against the current standard, you can't appeal to that.

@pkal @noodlez1232 @drewdevault @gloopsies @phel
True — I don't think that terminating with zero irregardless of being unable to write to a file is a good idea as you asked the program to print its version — and it couldn't, it failed — the program failed to accomplish what you specifically requested. Removing the options and just doing "exit(0)" might be a way to solve that, but obviously it's not what GNU wants — they want uniformity, for all the utilities to have these options 🤷

It's a rather subtle way to tell those using emacs they are disabled, I'd call it polite even — you should appreciate that 😏

Why is he carrying a Spurdo Spärde amputee performing a fellatio on him in a construction cart? 😨

Hey fedi, I'm looking for a (hopefully cheap) SBC that has excellent Linux support and not too much resources (RAM, CPU, etc). Can y'all give me some suggestions?

I specifically wanna ditch #RaspberryPi here given their recent stuff, and also because I want to scale down in computing power, not up (use natural cooling, etc). I'd want something that has specs between the Pi2 and Pi3. 1GB RAM is enough. Good FreeBSD support would be great, but not a must.

What do you recommend?

May I ask what this recent stuff is? There "porking out" happened quite some time ago and I don't remember anything recent that might make one consider jumping ships 🤔

fedi ed: for the ultimate form of collaboration, a user can start a session of ed by pinging a bot with a file name, and then issuing commands from there, then the people shitting on you for your bad code can come out of the woodwork and lecture u

@phocks
Oh, damn, of course they are — they are even captioned in the alt.text, silly me 🤦

@phocks
I still keep a few CD caddies and an external SCSI optical drive that works with them, but these are miniDiscs, right?

It's not true you say? Too late I say! The memes are awesome!
I bet it was the Russians who started this shit! 😂
