Were they tied to a particular OEM and could only be used with a particular distro in Windows 95 times or was that introduced in XP? 🤔
I can vaguely remember you could turn your distro/build into Pan European one just by editing an .inf file in Windows 95 though — so maybe this could be worked around too 😅

🤔
I was fairly certain that to own a .su domain you had to have hammer and sickle on your front page.
Otherwise it gets… expropriated in 3-2-1 😏

@newt
00b00nt00 — I don't use it, but that is probably what most Nornierers want 🤷
Or you can always install latest Windows, now with Arnold Schwarzenegger — there is no need to activate it even for it to be usable, and they can purchase a license from the store themselves later if they like it.

@1link @bagder
Same. Overdesigning is sure bad — rookie programmers do this all the time: implementing all the layers of abstraction, and never getting to implementing actual useful features. But underdesigning might also be bad — especially in the commercial projects, when people are time constrained and extensibility was never in mind, some high-priority features often get slapped over in a manner that they look alien to otherwise very neat software.

@newt
Firefox with tabs on top looks so unusual to me — I tend to forget that it's actually the default and that I had to do a lot of things for it to not be this way 🤪

@romin
Domains you want become very cheap once you get to a point when no one understands your jokes anymore 😂

@Terry
A rather sad joke. AFAIR it wasn't made for fun, that kitten had jaw broken and the mushroom costume made it possible to feed it. But it died anyway 😿

@kravietz
No, that one's actually great. World's best stealth tank, bar none!
No one has ever seen it on the frontline 🤣

@kravietz
"Yes, we can't make an electric kettle, but our weapons are the best!"
Now is the time for those to shine, but somehow it turns out that "best weapons" only exist in miniscule quantities and don't work so well — it's stashes of old Soviet tanks, Chinese and Iranian UAVs doing the fighting. And the "meat waves" of course 🤦
@defensereport@mastodon.social

@romin
This show is good! I'm usually not a fan of this "isekai" thing or inversion of it as in this particular case, but it's entertaining.
And the blonde loli main character is actually funny rather than annoying — a rare occurrence indeed 😂
@m0xEE

@q66
Is Sony among the few makers doing this or is this a common practice?
@mia

@q66 @mia
Also it's LTE-only. Not that I need that 5G thing, there are still 2G networks around here, but in regard of being futureproof, still something to consider.
Does Sailfish support it on any hardware at all? 🤔

didn’t see this until now but looks like jolla has another phone lined up

idk, display seems a bit low-res… but it’s got an audio jack and honestly seems good enough. might consider it if i get tired of the xperia 10 II (i don’t like its tall form factor and i only got it so i could run newer android apps)

@gemlog
Ha-ha-ha, that's real smart! I wish I could go that route, but in the land of the non-free, Wi-Fi has to be logged and linked to your real identity, otherwise they might crack down on you and you'd be fined, so most people have their networks closed and even though it's capital city, you can barely find open networks 😫

@gemlog
That battery life is too tasty to reject, so I'm letting this phone be. But I'm getting Pinephone proper next.
Maybe something even nicer than current PinePhone Pro will come up by then.
And I'm definitely aiming for my perfect phone this time — with PostmarketOS and SWMO/SXMO. I'm not against tinkering with my phone so I'm going to polish it to perfection, it's just that with Android it felt pointless — I just fundamentally hate this OS 😂

@gemlog
Mine can only run Droidian — it's basically Mobian running on top of HALium compatibility layer, the thing that makes it possible to use it on phones that originally came with Android.
It works relatively well — most of the hardware is supported, but it's not enough to justify having only a day of battery life, compared to five (!) days that you can get out of my phone easily with medium usage on Android-based ArrowOS.

@gemlog
Proud to report that now it works even on my end 😁
