And it doesn't matter what mode you have to use — you can do it using a system installed to a different volume, essentially what "recovery mode" is, point is — you can't do that on a running system. Same as you can defeat the TPM requirement of Windows 11 really, same as you can uninstall Edge, or disable that new Retract — but won't it defeat the original purpose, isn't the end-user experience ruined this way?

Might be not the thing you do every day, but it's still rather basic stuff.

In case with X11 vs Wayland, both are viable at least, in case with Android vs OS, both are utter garbage, seeing someone claiming that of those things is superior is somewhat entertaining, but ultimately rather weird.

That might be a good idea actually! Even used one — if someone was using it for some time and it didn't fail, it probably came without factory defects and it would probably keep working. I won't go for soldered-in storage though — I'm not sure later models had that, but Apple loves such shit, and these things wear down.

It's even worse at this point, with Windows hardware you can at least get something that has a viable migration path, with Mac you are confined to that thing that looks like horse's ass and requires disabling SIP in single-user mode to install curl.

Vista did have its appeal, it had some interesting visual effects that some were missing in later releases. Most didn't have proper hardware when it got released — the sole reason for the bad reputation, I think it's rather a marketing failure than a technical one.
But it's still Windows — I hate Windows, even XP and 7 which most like. Windows 8 doesn't look like Windows at all, that's why I like it, even Windows 10 was a downgrade IMO 🤔
