On the surface it makes sense, but in reality, you'd feel much more motivated doing things that are useful and that other might find useful, than doing something abstract — in this case you risk losing focus and eventually all interest.

No, it's on my end. It's that old thing that already took me some time to figure out: Firefox has to have media.ffvpx.enabled set to true. And as it turned out, it doesn't have anything to do with VPx, their naming is just poor.

I do use syntax highlighting, but mine is still rather tame and I'm fine without it, to me it's more like "If it's there — why not?"
And I'm not really into color diversity myself, I even use Dark Reader to tone the colors down in Firefox. And yet, monochrome doesn't have to be black and white, I for one use shades of gray and greenish yellow 🤷

On Pleroma servers it's retroactive even — it hides even older notifications from that thread, which might be useful if you replied to a thread you shouldn't have, went for a short walk and came back to your notification box being filled to the brim 😂
I'm not sure it works the same way in Mastodon though 🤔
