@aral I don't think that this should be "solved" at all. There are a lot of good IM protocols out there and great apps for that. Don't like the pace of IM? There are privacy-centric e-mail providers. People should use whatever they are comfortable with! Tighter integration — maybe, but there is no need to reinvent the "Mastodon wheel".
@torb
They are neither direct (P2P), nor they are private (E2EE), it should be called something like "restricted scope". People should just stop trying to use social networks for *private* communication, they are not a great tool for that and they never will be. It's yet another case of putting all eggs in one basket.
@aral
@finn Dogs should be voted for 🐶
@kel
I just switch to membrane keyboard when I want to be more stealthy (or don't want to disturb other people 🤭) — I really like clicky keyboards, Cooler Master one I use now has Cherry MX Reds, and for some reason I was convinced those are clicky until I came back home with it (it got delivered to a public drop box). And oh boy was I disappointed! 😩

@shoom2005
В оригинальном документе было что-то про хот-доги, но т.к. переводили PROMT'ом, получилось то, что получилось 😅
@neural_meduza
@lowqualityfacts But you have to keep doing that because if you stop, it shrinks back to normal size and you forget how to count completely — just like squirrels hiding all those nuts, but forgetting their locations after their brain shrinks 🐿
@iska Too translucent to my tastes, but good 👍
I'd either make it less translucent of use a different color for comments, they are barely legible now.
@mint Not every time. I mean that Prince dude looks totally dead to me now 😅
@oldrawgabbit
> Perhaps it's the pouring rain outside that did it.
Or maybe Fenrir going to swallow the Moon and the Sun at lunch — you know, THAT thing again 😄
@neural_meduza
Потрогали траву так сказать — пока ту ещё не всю продали в Китай 😆
@safiuddinkhan
> skills we learn are stored in another part of our long term memory called the procedural memory
This explains why those who are into object oriented programming often have no skills 😂
@oldrawgabbit
Very pretty! Sorry for your loss 😿
@inhosin
Цитируя классику: «Ему не то что баб скоблить, а, будь то сказано не к ночи, такой елдой чертей глушить!» 🤣
@neural_meduza
Даёшь только непищевое пальмовое масло! Макароны из фуражного зерна на завтрак, обед, и ужин! Больше сивушных масел в водке!
@JoBlakely Yeah, but "giving off vibes" is often the opposite of what the person really is. Do you really believe that CEO might not be in the loop about a major project the company's working on? 🤨
I'm no Google sympathizer — there are few things that I hate more then Google, I even stay away from WebP, VP9 and all that shit. This guy is just funny to me, the rest of their management is even worse — all I'm saying 🤷
@aral
@annika I think they do, this is a company instance after all, I've even seen them take it down for maintenance a couple of times 🤷
Not the biggest of my concerns TBH, there are no DMs here and all posts are intentionally made public, login history? Living in Russia I'm always on VPN and I'm naturally paranoid (probably a real disorder), I'm sometimes reluctant to post my cats because something else might be in the picture and I always check screen reflections, names on screenshots and such 😅
None
Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
