@thor And for me it's also a form of self-therapy. I'm into exact same shit and it's like I'm talking to myself, but not brooding over it — like you said, remaining positive. It IS encouraging to know you are not alone out there with the same things on your mind 😁
@thor Oh, feck it! It's not like you're obliged to anyone to do certain things at certain age and we live longer than we used to.
Just do whatever you get your kicks from, put it on hold whenever you like and feel free to revisit it when you feel the urge to express yourself creatively — but again, don't feel obliged to make anyone like the product.
Yeah-yeah, I know we all have to make a living at this age, but don't over-analyze it — it won't make you a happy person, just take your own pace.
@thor This may seem rational, but it may be sort of a mid-life crisis. You don't get the usual thrills from doing same things you're into — pure chemistry in your brain.
But this doesn't of course mean that you should carry on because being into creative stuff seems good on paper. If you're only into it for money, love and attention, there are other ways to achieve that, maybe it's time to reassess 🤷
@thor Sure!
Maybe it just doesn't reach the right audience. Most often the people who can truly appreciate your art are not the people who you want to do so. Eventually it may happen — by chance, but it'll only happen if you don't give up. And it's not even guaranteed — it can be very discouraging.
@thor I think I had already told you this, I've watched some documentary on David Lynch — basically just an interview. And you know what, he was on the verge of giving up when he got his first grant from some educational institution. That's Lynch for christsake! If you want to make it in this game, you should never give up — but nothing is guaranteed This doesn't mean you should double down on it and ruin your life — if you don't feel comfortable with it, put it on hold, never give up completely
@thor No, actually it doesn't mean shit most of the time! Maybe you're good, maybe not — there is no way to tell by showing your art (or whatever) to random people.
And of course it's not the reason to give up — if you want to make money not by editing wedding videos, but with artsy-creative stuff you've got to do A LOT of it for free first.
@wikihow And spend hours on customizing that userChrome.css again? No, thank you 😅

I've never had a Twitter account — reading is all I do so Nitter is perfect for me. I don't know why this community doesn't migrate to Fedi though, considering Twitter has your phone number and you can go to prison easily for posting "wrong" things. Well, they still want their thousands of followers I guess 🤷

Fortunately for us, it's really hard to do so with webapps — of course they can add some keys and obfuscate the way they are generated with javascript, but a skilled web developer will still figure it out.
I agree, not relying on centralized social media is the right way. Nitter is pretty much all I use as Russian Twitter community is an invaluable source of news on politics and such, most "real" news outlets were censored long ago, even online ones.

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
