@thor At least it not the kind of Russian tourists from that Okkupert show, who can barge into anything, are loud, require a lot of service and can shoot you if they don't like it 😂

@Pixificial
Yup, and considering where I live it's not too bad to be somewhat paranoid.
But I think I went a little overboard and it's time to let some of that go. I don't selfhost, but I use the instance of a privacy-oriented company, and I use VPN from another privacy-oriented company from a different country to access it, I don't have my real name or phone number specified — should be sufficient from privacy standpoint and true anonymity is not what I strive for here.

@neural_meduza
Что-то подсказывает мне, что дело вовсе не в курсе доллара 😏

@copyrights
I agree, it doesn't look like tusks at a glance at all, but… It's literally in the name 🤣
@dzuk

@joel Are those Arctic icons? I recognize none of these, except for Files and Tusky, but maybe I just use different apps 🤷

@iska@mk.starnix.network
They should be if you have proper microkernel architecture.
QNX used to be like that, it was true microkernel and RTOS on top of that, so kernel was designed to be really minimalistic, AFAIR it only had IPC and memory management, everything else: networking, filesystems and whatnots were modular, so you could remove them lest you didn't need them.
Then Quantum Software were acquired by RIM and it all went south 😢

@iska@mk.starnix.network Aren't filesystems userspace processes in all BSDs?
Systemd was inspired by launchd in Mac OS X I think, it wasn't that bad in the beginning, but became an abomination. I was taking a long break from tech stuff when all of this happened and was reallly shocked to discover most distros adopted it several years later.

@Pixificial
Here I've already did a lot of what I usually don't do, so it can already be traced back to real me, so I'm as open as I can get ATM. I still make sure the nothing can be seen in reflections in the photos and there are no addresses/serial numbers in screenshots, but it's just a matter of habit. At least I didn't come up with some fake personality this time and didn't change the manner I write (punctuation, using upper/lower case, using certain words) — yes, it used to be this bad 😅

@Pixificial
I'm anonymous because of my paranoia. I think I have an actual disorder. On Fedi, I'm actually trying to overcome this as I mention a lot of personal experiences and even post some photos — I feel really uncomfortable doing this even if it's my cats and I'm not in the photo (I'm way beyond this, only a few photos of me exist, my friends ask both before taking the photo and before posting it somewhere even if I'm not the topic of the photo and there is no indication that it's me).

@hideki
> Yeah, it looks aesthetically pleasing
You're already in luck if a person tell an actual painting apart from processed photo. They can, at best, appreciate your skill. If the theme of your art is not offensive to them — it's good art. Only a few can appreciate the artistic design/conception and see this meaning/direction 🤷
It's true for visual art, it's the same with music. Even with literature, which is based on language so it's least abstract.
And it's really sad.

@evelyn I wonder when will Proton turn to the dark side 🤔

@atyh tut or gomphothereum for Fedi, mutt for e-mail, gomuks for Matrix, lynx/elinks/w3m/whatever for the web, amfora for Gemini, looks like we're all set! A revolutionary Internet device 😁

@misato Looks like an average fediposter — a bottle of wine in hand, lots of empty beer cans, oddly placed tux… 🤣

@RadioAngel
Looks like a still from one of those zombie apocalypse movies 🧟
@neauoire

@Zerglingman
It was in F-droid at some point I think, but yes, now you have to add this Izzy repo.
And yes, it's in active development as neoLauncher. Looks cool, but apparently they did a rewrite of some things so it's not yet on par feature-wise, e.g. this full-width widgets setting is missing. And I'm too lazy to migrate my settings anyway 😄
@MK2boogaloo @waifu

@Zerglingman
I use something called Omega Launcher. It has LOTS of features I don't really need, but I really like that you can get rid of all the labels, the search and make the widgets full-width. Looks really nice.
But, I really did struggle to make the punch-hole not obstruct the wallpaper, spent like half an hour on small thing like this. It looks okay on the preview, you press "Ok" and it looks all wrong — like I said, had to do it the trial and error way 😅
@MK2boogaloo @waifu

@apophis Add carbonara and caterpillar to that list of synonyms of yours! Let 'em enjoy the variety 😅

@Zerglingman
For a phone maybe? 🤷
Android wants the image to be scrollable horizontally (at least the launcher I use) so it expects some really weird aspect ratio for wallpaper image to be used in full.
I was trying to match wallpaper image to the camera punch-hole, so it is exactly where I want it to be and I ended up doing this by trial and error. Most don't care if image is just trimmed, but if you want to do it precisely, it's not for the faint of the heart.
