Firefox wants pulseaudio for audio input to work, but as I hate pulse, I use this wrapper called apulse. It introduces some lag which makes audio and video out of sync. It's okay for video calls and such, but it pisses me off watching videos like this. With youtube-dl I can also keep the video if I like it — so youtube-dl is my weapon of choice when it comes to dealing with web video.

@cyberspook @fugger @iska@mstdn.starnix.network It should be like this in theory. But in reality js is often abused and you can't even read text without these fancy decorations. I have js blocked by default in firefox and even some sites for the tech-savvy like python.org or stackexchange show you warnings about enabling js. Pleroma doesn't show you a thing with js disabled I think.
You can use youtube-dl or mpv directly (which in turn will use youtube-dl) for youtube, but you can't avoid js on some other sites.

@appak My cats sleep under a blanket when it's cold and I cover them, but they don't hide like that themselves. Jokes aside, maybe they don't feel comfortable about it for some reason. They prefer their cool (but warm) sweaters and their heated rug.
Oh, they do come under the blanket themselves when I'm under that blanket too! Maybe they feel cuddly or maybe they just feel safer this way, knowing I'm already there and no one will sit on top of them by accident 😸

@matrix Pokemon GO monsters aren't as scary though. And I think there's some sort of criminal penalty for "catching" mosters found via Tinder.

Я даже хотел опубликовать видео в разделе Reddit, посвящённом игре, чтобы разработчики не вводили людей в заблуждение: что в первой части игры не было кооперативного режима — он был, просто не для людей.
Потом я вспомнил, что для этого надо будет зарегистрироваться в Reddit, а делать этого я конечно не хотел. Но видео осталось.

Наконец-то я понял почему Джойса причисляют к модернистам. Человеку с постмодернистским мышлением, типа меня, конечно бросаются в глаза поток сознания и игры с языком, а то, что там выполнены и все необходимые условия хорошего модернистского произведения остаётся незаметным.

Вряд ли я когда-нибудь буду снимать кино или писать сценарии для него — не моё, и всё же, я считаю удачным то, что мне эта книга попалась в период, когда я задавал себе похожие вопросы. Не считаю, что потратил время на её чтение впустую. Кроме того, там разбирается мой любимый Улисс в качестве примера.

Книга совсем о другом, но по сути, ключевые точки в хорошем сценарии очень похожи на важные вехи развития личности. В модернистском смысле конечно же, в современных произведениях сюжет может быть не самым важным 😅 Даже при том, что жизнь не заканчивается титрами в случае удачного разрешения конфликта или решения проблемы, процессы очень похожи.

Ещё умение не пытаться понравиться всем, пытаясь усидеть на всех стульях сразу, по сути, при этом всех обманывая. И это, и умение отказать — следствия из способности нести ответственность не на словах, а на деле.
Иногда приходится делать некрасивые вещи для того, чтобы двинуться дальше — это тоже надо уметь принять.

Не только тот, кто берёт ответственность, но и тот, кто вообще не берётся за то, на что он никак не может влиять, а значит и нести ответственность.
Это тоже не сразу приходит — умение отказать, когда тебя просят сделать что-то, но ты не уверен, что можешь довести это до конца, хотя отказать и неудобно.

@cyberspook @iska@mstdn.starnix.network @fugger Yeah, I pipe html messages from mutt to w3m, decoding them with perl first because for some reason quoted-printable encoding is broken in mutt. And yes, there are lynx, links, elinks and all that, but you can hardly use them for the js clusterfuck that's called web nowdays.
