> my encryption keys are permanently broken
Yeah, sadly this used to happen a lot in the past.
I cannot establish an encrypted 1-on-1 room with one of my friends, she lives in a different country now so fixing this by trial and error is problematic. When she was coming to visit me I thought that I could use this opportunity to fix this for good. And I more or less understand how things work… Still couldn't do it — seems impossible without completely resetting the keys on her account😩
@merlin
It's always wise to have a spare!
What if you get logged out in one of them and don't have any other device or your encryption key on you? Easy — log in using another device, verify it with your other app, then use this new device to verify the original app that got logged out! 🤣
@themilkman
Yeah, just behaving nicely and not acting like an asshole or a freak all of a sudden is more than enough!
It's also important to keep in mind that the other party most often isn't someone who is willing to exploit you (and in even less cases skilled at that), but someone as confused as you are — some are better at mustering confidence, some are putting on airs for that. But that's about it!
@ozzelot
I wonder how viable is running modern Linux on a PS3 🤔
@romin @iska
And my midrange phone can probably run circles around my vintage Mac Pro 😂
In 2000s I would never expect myself to say it, but computing power is what I seek in a computer the least today, battery life is close second — those two are through the roof already, repairability, user-serviceability and openness of modern hardware on the other hand is a goddamn mess.
Again, I would have never expected to care about those, but when everything is just soldered and glued together — meh 😖

> if they say they are good looking
They are probably overcompensating for the lack of self-esteem and if you're interested, you can easily win them over by making a superfluous compliment 😏

I won't be trying the fastest PD charging modes with non-original cable and charger anyway — it's simply not safe. And they do have a chip, but e.g. a 2024 iPad can get charged just fine with a USB-C charger that came with my Lumia 950 from 2015 — it takes like an hour, not half a day, even though iPad has a high-capacity battery and that charger's "fast charge" mode not being that exactly fast by today's standards — it's not even remotely that bad.
@StefanThinks
With Emoji Kitchen you can even make a spider-pig: https://emojikitchen.dev/
But yeah, it should be a standard issue 🤭
@StefanThinks
Shouldn't I ignore all previous instructions first? 😜

Or the grandpa's way: git-format-patch — then reapply all those patches to a different branch, basically same as cherry-picking, but you don't have to remember their IDs.
You can probably also do "git-rebase -i" to a branch with a different tag — and drop the ones you don't need 🤔
A question for my CS colleagues. I'm looking for examples for interpreters or JIT compilers in places one would not necessary expect in an operating system at runtime (in the widest possible context). Obvious examples are IMHO shells or (e)BPF/dtrace scripts. Some more exotic uses I can think of are interpreters for vector fonts (e.g. PS Type1 or TT hints) or the use of Prolog in the network configuration of NT4.
Do you know other examples?

Reformed and standardised 😏

Even though I understand how it works, I still hate it and no matter how much more comfortable I get with it with time, I still can't force myself into liking it 😖
@kaia
I don't get people who can work out late in the evening and go to bed after that! How do they do it? 😤
@newt
SPARCs had those too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SunPCi
With more capable CPUs!

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
