Yeah, farmers might be way better at it than Windows sysadmins… Or not — on the surface, they might posses a more useful skillset, but would they be able to put up a good fight for long enough if their John Deere shit suddenly breaks down, if there is no fuel, no electricity, no fertilisers? I'm honestly not sure — they would probably still have to re-learn a lot, same as those with "useless" professions 🤷

@Merc @theorytoe
But otherwise — yeah, sure, people are just scamming each other for money that you can't buy shit with anymore, but somehow modern equipment enables us to do it in a way that we manage to avoid famine and other catastrophic things.
Trading exchanges used to be helpful in determining market value of goods — but they no longer are and are often used for speculative purposes and cryptocurrency exchange is of course the epitome of that.

@Merc @theorytoe
On a serious note though, you might argue that farmers and coal-miners are at least self-sustainable — but they aren't! What are they going to eat, coal? Farmers aren't any better on a closer look — they aren't using "grandpa tools" anymore: with limited amount of farmlands and billions of people they have to feed, they can only stay productive if they use modern equipment — that's where engineers, mathematicians and software developers come it.

@Merc @theorytoe
And yet… Coal-mining industry is loss-making in every country I can think of: Russia, Poland, UK: newscientist.com/article/21302
Farmers too:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agricult
A 2021 study by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization found $540 billion was given to farmers every year between 2013 and 2018 in global subsidies.

Governments keep sponsoring this bunch of botanists-speleologists! They've been leeching off taxes paid by honest crypto-investors and OnlyFans models for years!

@Merc @theorytoe
Those are more like lifestyles than jobs — and they aren't getting paid either, they keep begging the state for subsidies. No one's ever getting paid, all "jobs" are made up 😢

@romin
And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love, then you softly leave
And it's me you need to show
How blue are your tits?

@newt
No one's asking you to — not playing them on purpose is usually good enough, unfortunately for them, they keep gambling until they find someone who does and use that to further reinforce their belief that everyone is like that 😩

@bartholin @kaia
Except in this case, the title of Dungeon Master is not figurative 😂

@newt
There are people like that, who have been manipulated in their childhood, they tend to get manipulative themselves and are also looking for similar type of relationships in their adult life. They need help to get out of their "vicious cycle" and a person who's genuinely interested in them to get into a healthy relationship. If you aren't that person — indeed, best to avoid.

@newt
Oh, yes, I've seen that one! Kinda odd that it doesn't show up when I'm looking for it explicitly 🤔

Had your behaviour been genuine/honest, it might've even worked for you 😅

@kaia
Well, we did survive COVID lockdowns so in a way we pass the test 😁
But yeah, even this short "training course" doesn't exactly inspire hope — the number of divorces worldwide skyrocketed.

@kaia
Why so many bunk beds? 🤔
Oh, my bad — long-term food supplies 😈

@newt
Something's peculiar about that post, I can't retrieve it neither from my instance, nor from this one.
Could it have limited visibility, private/followers only?

@newt
Women take that into account and tend to get openly hostile at an earlier stage, this extends to online interactions as well, but in most general case I don't think that we're that different and I don't think that "all men are happy when they get attention from any woman, it's only girls who complain" is true.

@newt
Again, it's all individual — you like receiving womens' attention no matter if you're interested in them or not, maybe there are girls who like getting unsolicited dick pics There one more aspect to it however: in real life circumstances it's much easier for a man to stop unwanted interaction than for a girl to stop an advance from a man who is already set on it, fails to read their reaction and might be intoxicated on top of it.

@newt
Everything is individual, to me women expressing overt interest is rather off-putting and in most cases leads to mea having even less interest in them. As in most situations, I do my best to be mindful and reject overt advances in a way that won't be considered offensive, unfortunately not everyone "gets it" and a few times I had to act like an asshole 😔

@newt
Was it from some rando or from a girl you've expressed prior interest in? Was it disgusting? Because, likewise, most dick pics aren't the works of art in the slightest — gender roles might have shifted the way some behaviour is being considered "more normal" and other "less normal", but in terms of how we perceive things on personal level, I don't think that boys and girls are that different.

@newt
It's the same kinda argument as music becoming shit as you no longer need an orchestra to record it — yeah, the amount of goawful music is simply astounding, but some of the stuff recorded using a laptop, a DAW and an affordable soundcard is simply amazing — navigating the seas of feces on SoundCloud is not for the faint of the heart, that is true, but finding true gems isn't impossible — it's not even that hard if you're brave enough 👨🏿‍✈️

@newt
As for the second part — we can extrapolate that: absolute most photos are simply disgusting, including the nude photos, yep — the smartphones… But the proportion probably remained the same, so due to number of photos taken growing dramatically, the absolute number of tasteful nudes has increased too — it's just that now you have to know where to look.

@newt
Well, in this case you're comparing the uncomparable — we can hold an experiment to confirm that, but, like I said, I'd expect them to not mind you sharing your dick pics for everyone to enjoy vs sending those pics to them specifically.
