I remember using English when commenting on bugs/incidents even working for a Russian company — just so that the few foreign colleagues we've had could understand it too. Few had problems with it.

I don't see the point in learning languages outside the environment where I would have to use it daily. I'm good at picking the vocabulary up, I remember working with Germans and I started understanding what they are talking about — not enough to speak it, but it seems to me that learning languages isn't that hard.
But for my job routine of course I would have to use English — at least originally, which I expect to not be a problem when it's tech related.

It's kinda sad actually because I really like Poles — it was one of my early jobs and I had a colleague from Poland and once he came of Moscow on a business trip, we had really great time in the after hours, I'm not really got a keeping in touch so we've lost contact since.
Almost every Pole I meet online turns out a fun person too… But yeah, I have to accept the reality 😩

It's not even about the political statement, there are reasons to stay away from Russian tech even if it's manufactures in Taiwan.
Just as Americans are often… alarmed about electronic equipment that offers security/privacy made in US — just a few days ago I was accused of being on "CIA instance"🤣(But why would a Russian person care about CIA?)

NordStream 2? 🤪

Is this company Russian? The facts that their website has only Russian and English languages, they suggest using Russian online stores and some key people have Russian names look *kinda* suspicious to me 🤨

Suggestion to fight like a lion to change the uni course incoming!
Or is it changing the uni? Moving to another country? 🤭
Anything goes in matters of war and not getting a laptop with Windows!

I had no idea you could get such a machine for so little 😅
The civilisation is nearing collapse indeed 👴

I’ve been getting a number of phishing emails purporting to be from Hetzner saying my payment into needs to be updated. It’s interesting excuse they targeting email addresses that are plausibly associated with my various fediverse service domains. The from addresses are nonsensical, and the link to login Hetzner are easy give away that it’s a scam.
Anyhow, please be on alert if you use Hetzner. I am guessing the play here is to steal your Hetzner login credentials, and (probably) payment information. Hetzner does have an alert in their portal about phishing attacks purporting to be from them so I think they are aware, though I found the targeting to be a bit novel.
Stay safe out there.
I wanted to share an awesome Expenses tracker, built with Textual. The author has done an amazing job -- it looks gorgeous!

It's good until you get addicted and realise that not getting any sleep for five days straight probably isn't that much fun 😈

For both I have my own sets of patches to make them look… less like a blast from the past — with colour emojis you can spice up any UI! this is what tut looks like on an old ThinkPad of mine: https://social.librem.one/@m0xee/112988783753634643
And here is Bloat on my old Lumia: https://social.librem.one/@m0xee/112214024764622399
As tut doesn't display images — but you can invoke your favourite image view if you like, and Bloat is self hosted — so I can do whatever I want with CSS, I'm quite comfortable browsing the Fediverse at night!

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
