Ha-ha-ha, happens on Fedi a lot! It's not the Boy, but rather the instance the Boy is on, poasties get wild at times that's why they are blocked on many instances.
But there's actually nothing of the sort in the posts I'm replying to, you can open the thread on the instance I'm on to read them: https://social.librem.one/@m0xee/113090137801172461
If you're getting annoyed with all the notifications, you can mute the thread or, if you wish, I can just unmention you if and when I reply again.

They just want someone more cooperative than Pooteen — replace him with Hooteen and be done with it, but I have digressed…
Russians actually stand their ground against alcohol relatively well. From what I can see — much better than many ethnic minorities from the eastern parts, for whom wide availability of alcoholic beverages becomes a really harsh blow, their traditions immediately start deteriorating 😅
@special-boy
Unfortunately Russians themselves don't see centralisation as a bad thing, but the worst part is that the international community doesn't see it either — just watch them, when it caves in again, western politicians will do their best to keep it in one piece, they would rather deal with some new "owner of these lands", than with dozen representatives of smaller entities.
@special-boy
For Russians, I think alcoholism is a symptom than a core problem, during the periods of greater political freedoms and economic prosperity, hard alcohol consumption drops significantly, it also "coincides" (not really) with growth in birth rates. But this threatens the centralisation of power. And vice-versa actually, there's a theory that Gorbachyov's anti-alcohol campaign might have contributed to the dissolution of USSR.

Watching my Unbound DNS cache statistics and sadly there’s plenty of Fediverse servers with TTL of A/AAAA records set to very low values. Why would anyone set TTL to 18, 30 or 300 seconds?
I get it, when you prepare for a migration, that’s something you want to do to speed up the transition. There’s some sophisticated load-balancing schemes where this may come handy, but most of those I see are simple unicast hosts. Resolvers worldwide are just pointlessly pounding the whole DNS tree to get the same IP over and over again…
RFC 1033, 1987:
Most host information does not change much over long time periods. A good way to set up your TTLs would be to set them at a high value, and then lower the value if you know a change will be coming soon. You might set most TTLs to anywhere between a day (86400) and a week (604800). Then, if you know some data will be changing in the near future, set the TTL for that RR down to a lower value (an hour to a day) until the change takes place, and then put it back up to its previous value.
Okay, this is about default TTL in SOA and 86400 may be quite long for disaster recovery, but how about at least an hour (3600)?
@kravietz
I expect many instances to be hosted at home and among those, myself included, many have to rely on dyndns to update the dns record. I agree though, even in this case an hour is still a reasonable value!

> Amish of German heritage in the (They do not have a demographic crisis)
Well, that's natural — they have very few ways of entertaining themselves,
which also used to be true for rural Russia — they had vodka and
fucking, but now, due to aging population and declining health even of those who are younger, it became mostly vodka 😩
@special-boy
There is nothing traditional in these "traditional values", it's the same image of great past they attempt to sell to those who are younger and the unsuspecting westerners.
The number of abortions (and miscarriages) per woman have been much higher in the USSR, it was just most often performed out of clinic, and they will likely revive this particular "tradition" by making more civilised means of birth control less available.

Bebibyte 😝
@neural_meduza
А я не поехал, я купил мотыля и пошёл на реку^W^W^W^W^W водку и изготовил фрикадельку с майонезом из себя — но нормально не было 😢
@kaia @UkeBLCatboy
Take them to Russia for a quick tour of "traditional values". We are already seeing a taxi ride price hike due to sharp decline in number of drivers, thanks to recent "counter-terrorist" measures. Uber is against our tradition — walk on foot, or get a Chinese car instead!
Somehow it didn't solve the demographic crisis, neither did reducing the availability of abortions and oral contraception. I wonder, maybe the war and declining economy have more to do with it, hm-m-m? 🤔
@admitsWrongIfProven
My pun wasn't this elaborate, I was just making fun of people who downplay depression as "having sad thoughts".
As far as I understood the article, this finding might not be about fixing it, more about diagnosing it early, which might help prevent it in people susceptible, before they slide into the state recovering from which becomes a lengthy process.
@randahl
One of the earliest rounds of sanctions must've included terminating the EU membership… Damn, I didn't know that 🤣
Hey, when I'm feeling depressed, I just stop having sad thoughts (and reduce the part of brain network responsible for this), why can't you? 😬
@kaia
Swatch has this Touch line — they look really cool for plastic watches. They come in lots of different colours and I have several of them! 🤩
I think they've made a newer edition, those are bigger and have "sports" features — those don't look as cool IMO.
But I'm also a Casio DW5600 enjoyer, so maybe that's not your thing 😅
@kirby
Both my Deathadder Chroma and Deathadder Elite started having scroll wheel, or rather third mouse button issues, in just a couple of years — so I can attest, it's not about $20.
My Deathadder 3.5G still works — they obviously have quality control issues with their newer stuff 😩
@ElDeadKennedy
@kirby
Oh, isn't it that keyboard that was using optical switches, is it any good? 🤔
None
Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
