AFAIK, many use them to run these image generation models — on these machines it's possible to use main RAM instead of dedicated video memory as everything is tightly integrated, it's not as performant, but in this case it's actually cheaper than a machine with equal amount of video RAM, and especially a laptop.

One of the few KyoAni shows I like 🤭

RISC-V CPU runs The Witcher 3 at 15 FPS — 64-core chip paired with Radeon RX 5500 XT GPU deliver laggy gameplay

At very low, choppy FPS for now— but that it can run at all without x86 bodes quite well for the future of RISC-V devices

I use bzip2 a lot — it takes me more time to recall whether xz is uppercase J or is it Z 😂
XZ offers superior compression, but it's also significantly more resource-hungry — this isn't what I'd use on an old ARM machine with half a gig of RAM.

PSA for everyone on Mastodon: You don't need to use link shorteners. All links count as 23 characters, no matter what.

All a link shortener does is keep people from seeing where the link goes*. Many of us will refuse to boost posts with shortened links precisely because of this.

Please, just put the actual link in your post!

* And make your link become useless if the link shortening service ever goes away for any reason.)

An invaluable feature! I wish there was an extension to open YouTube links with it directly from Firefox so you could use the website just as a catalogue. I think there was one, but as it had the part that had to run as a service right on your machine and the extension could communicate with it, it wasn't really cross-platform.

Yeah, absolutely — that's the way I like reading my RSS feed: with JS and cookies enabled! 😩

@jk @jwz this is extremely unrealistic, because Google *never* asks for consent.

I don't remember experiencing these insane leaks for quite some time already and AutoTabDiscard usually helps freeing lots of RAM, no need for a complete restart.

@OmegaPolice
…it uses just about half a gigabyte of real RAM (resident, virtual memory allocated is still above 4 Gb of course) — as you can see, it's very modest, Thunderbird consumes more even when idle, and software based on webkit-gtk can consume about 2 Gb easily just after opening a couple of pages. I'm using Firefox in Void Linux and I stopped updating it at FF124 — could also be the reason why it's different here.
