Who could've expected that "cat" is carried out by actual cats and if it can't complete your request it just sits there and stares at you 😹
I'm proud to announce the launch of the public beta for Clew, my independent web search engine! 🎉🎉🎉
Try Clew: https://clew.se
Add to your browser: https://clew.se/add/
Clew maintains an independent index and is aiming to be a copyleft (APGLv3), self-hostable, privacy-respecting, customizable search engine which prioritizes independent creators/bloggers/writers and penalizes sites with ads and trackers.
Many features are yet to come. If you'd like to support Clew's development and server costs, you can donate to its Liberapay team: https://liberapay.com/Clew/
Boosts are very welcome, as is feedback of any kind!

Faster than light? 😲
@methuselah That's mainly because Matrix is full-mesh: the conversation lives on every server, unlike XMPP where federated MUC is not a thing. There are benefits (censorship/fault resistance, saves network requests, etc.) and drawbacks (need for storage, history conflicts), I urge you to consider both. As for implementation, there is Conduit & conduwuit, which are in Rust and widely used for single-user homeservers. @froge To be fair: XMPP issues are old; Matrix ones are new. cc. @ansuz

By the way, I can still teach you to like my jokes in a fair Q3 CPMA duel, how about that? The gloves are off! Well, about half a glove anyway — considering the machine the server is hosted on 😅

Same question, looks like I lack some important piece of knowledge about the modern world 😱
@leberschnitzel
How dare you! Aren't they building products that are "private by design"? 😏

Look, their website can't even display text without JavaScript being enabled, how could you not trust such nice people? 🤣
@Hyolobrika
And you don't have to MAKE everyone switch — that's an asshole behaviour, but they don't have to make you use what you've uncomfortable with either.
People in the case from the original post have switched from one single-vendor thing to another one, WhatsApp isn't that bad cryprographically, Signal just has better reputation, but all in all it's not such a big step up IMO
@ploum
@Hyolobrika
You don't have to be THAT indispensable — when I didn't have a phone capable of running WhatsApp and people from the groups I used to be in just asked one of those who could contact me otherwise to ask me for my opinion. It worked fine. But if people want to contact you directly, they should use whatever you've comfortable with — that's just normal 🤷
@ploum
@eric
Not my problem now. Deal with it 😜

As far as I understand it (and back in my days few would've come up with the idea of storing something as complex right in the DB👴🏿) — there are no extra steps! As PostgreSQL allows working with JSON objects stored in it. So effectively this just shifts some workload to the DB instead of dealing with it in Elixir.

Microsoft Pleroma® for Workgroups™ should be able to use Microsoft Access!
And have a frontend in Visual Basic 🤯

Опять почти минуту думал, что это настоящая новость! Пора завязывать с новостями… на сегодня 😏
@eric
We can fix this! By storing backups Pemorla' database… in the database 💡

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
