@newt
I know that you hate Rust, but have you seen this: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Redox-OS-COSMIC-Look
With little resources they have, it's surprising that it has a semblance of something working.
Hardware support is severely lacking (namely USB is supported only for input devices, which might not be a bad thing 😏), but at least it seems to have true microkernel design.

— Наши сотрудники… довольно специфические. Насколько надёжна ваша система защиты от дурака?
— С вот этой опцией — пять уровней защиты 🤓

MSE — but not Microsoft Security Essentials, more like Microsoft Spyware Engine 😂
@kirby
It will!
(But it will still run Microsoft™ Total Recall™ on a separate chip to spy on everything you do — not dissimilar to Intel Management Engine 😏)

Bleep-bleep! You need gold access card to use this instance 🤖

AliExpress of course! Chinese merchandise very good!
How about this "Western Bronze Proletarian leaders Karl-Heinrich Marx Bust Art Statue"? I give you big discount! The best!
One of the big-ass fans in my Mac Pro's case is making "funny" noises, I did vacuum it on the inside without putting too much effort into it, but it persists.
I can barely hear it during daytime or when the music is playing, but the noise is high-pitched and as it's in half-empty room, with all the reverberation it's very annoying. I hoped that it would just pass, but it didn't after three days — if anything, it only got worse. I don't want to disassemble the fucking thing 😩

Предполагаются ли к ним «умные» отделения полиции? 😓

My strategy always was to just pause it and drift away from watching it to having a conversation about something completely different, preferably over having beers 😏
@gemlog
I download my complete archive every once a few months from this instance — always a good idea! And DB of my own one is backed up nightly, I sometimes back the media up too — but there is usually nothing of great value there, nothing that I would miss is it gets lost.
@Tadano @kirby @yakumo_izuru
Ha-ha-ha-ha, yeah! It might seem confusing at first, but since I had to cross-build Void from the ground up for an old arm netbook that only supported a subset of VFPV3 instruction set and I couldn't use prebuilt binaries as they were giving me SIGILL, it all started making sense to me 😂
I have a couple of supplementary guides bookmarked that helped me, but I don't have them on my phone. I'll send them to you when I get to my computers.
@Tadano
Buckethead reference? 🤔

He used to wear a KFC bucket, for some reason they have chosen plain white for Wikipedia photo.
Looks like Internet filtering was relaxed a bit for the weekend, I can even use OpenVPN over UDP without all the weird quirks.
There are also rumours that Instagram is accessible directly, but I'm too lazy to check — I'm not using direct connections for HTTP(S).
Is Internet censorship branch of KGB on vacation or did they decide to do this as a gift to us? 🤔
@kirby
Originally I stopped using it as I grew a considerable hatred for them as company, years later I did attempt it as a fallback because I couldn't find anything with other search engines — and the results were also meh: it didn't take some of the words into account unless I put them in quotes, and with the it couldn't find anything that I wasn't already aware of.
And I've never seen the AI thing in person, only the screenshots of it on Fedi 🤭

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
