Often true and yet, it's something they can use — unlike money in a bank that they can spend on less things. They get a new car not with intent of selling it for more, but because in a year they might not be able to afford a better car and often even the same one — so why wait?
The question wasn't whether it's the optimal investment strategy, but why they do this — that's why. Inflation makes people give up their long-term plans 🤷

That tells heaps about how thoroughly worked through this propaganda is 😂
@astrid
O-o-oh! Party! 🥳

He unironically might start using his train more. And no, him having one isn't even a joke 😱
There was a big investigation about it — in 2022 I think, but I don't have a link on hand.

The question in the subtitle is stupid on so many levels 🤦
Like yeah, when your money is losing value and you can't save, that's a very reasonable thing to do — convert that money, which is losing value, into something that might be losing its value less. And as most people can't really "diversify their investments", that's what they do — they start buying things.
Can't believe that this is The Atlantic 😩
@bleedingphoenix @theorytoe @ComfyGuy
No, I'm talking about a guy who obviously doesn't care about you and only uses you as an outlet for his self-affirmation in particular — he obviously doesn't respect you and you shouldn't respect him back either. Not in real life, not online and not even in that novel you would never finish — not anywhere. Never!
@theorytoe @ComfyGuy
OMG, respect a person, who does that? Why? 😱
@bean
I use it and I absolutely DESPISE it — worst kernel ever, a total clusterfuck!
But at least it supports more hardware than BSDs and other even more fringe alternatives do. And I can make my system not look ugly as is the case with macOS and… just work — unlike Windows.
All in all, it's just lesser of the evils that comprise the hell that is modern computing.

Category: top underrated Facebook jokes 😆
If this lands on your feed, tell me about different features that are just missing in Matrix.
It can be anything, but please don't include memes like "unable to decrypt message" or other things that are already in the works, or maybe has already been merged (e.g media captions)
Some examples include better forwarded messages, rich profiles, or a live location sharing, just to name a few.
(I am writing something about this, boosts appreciated!)

And while I agree, CIA certainly attempts to influence the policy of foreign nations e.g. by favouring certain factions over others, but this doesn't mean that everything is their doing. The intent might indeed be there — but it doesn't prove they always succeed. I'm pretty sure that they take way greater credit than their actual influence was. They of course might think they are in control — who doesn't like being in control? But it doesn't mean they really are.
@thisisskaly @freediverx
For a lot of Americans information on TP-AJAX being publicly available is somehow the proof that US always does that, but to me — a Russian, it's the proof of the opposite: it demonstrates really well how such an attempt to exercise influence can go sideways. US ended up not benefitting from it in any way and have lost control over Iran for decades. The most obvious lesson to learn from it would be to not attempt this again 🤷
@arcana
I'm not really an Android user — this is the first Android phone in my life. And most probably the last one.
I knew I was going to hate it — I have a severe case of Google idiosyncrasy. It's not bad for an Android phone and it can also run Sailfish, Ubuntu Touch and Droidian — this was my original intent for getting it: an experiment to check out what the state of things are with other systems. I've never used even used the system it came with 🤷
@kaia
Oh no! What am I gonna do? 😱
Just close the tab and move on? Yes, that might work 😁

> most never set it up
I do! I've even managed to set up my Permombler to work with ProtonMail using hydroxide.
@mischievoustomato
Oh, don't worry, it's just a non-sequitur response. I'm going to give up a career of someone who can keep the conversation consistent and transition to THIS 🤩
But you can check out whatever you want and see what works best for you of course.

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
